In "Red Riding Hood," Seyfried plays Valerie, a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips the town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast--one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect...and bait.

so we have a 700 year old legend, a knowledgeable hunter and a village that doesn't have enough brain-power to solve the riddle: how to find out who of the villagers is the werewolf if he takes the human form only during daylight? maybe they should have tried to give the task to some of their children, for they would surely find a solution in no-time

add the well-known tale (the widely assumed opinion) of the red riding hood, a few known actors, a 'forbidden'/difficult love (story) and it surely must be a winning combination...guess, you'll find out how far-stretched this is on your own anyways

well,.. this is hollywood. Isn't it??
HOllywood is for people who have daily brain-farts and forget to think that films such as these will only have a 1 hour block-buster hit on the charts before it gets replaced by something else that'll be on the charts as a block-buster for about....1 hour or so.
Most of the stuff from Hollywood isn't really all that good, IMHO at least it is.

On the other hand....it's entertainment and also meant to take us away from our real lives. For a little while at least.

Someone else might like films such as these and that's fine, but it wouldn't really intersest me, though.

    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".
