    The suggestions are appreciated nonetheless.

That IMDb link seems like a good start. It's missing some of the ones I heard about like Kingsman or Inside Out, but those are probably on the "best of -year-" lists.

Also, the first item is a Tarantino movie, which reminds me of something Argentine humorist Roberto Pettinato wrote once.

The first time I watched a Tarantino movie I understood why he would become a unique director and why nobody had done what he did.
And I quickly understood the differences between normal movies and Tarantino's.

NORMAL: a young couple loves each other and buys chewing gum at a gas station.
TARANTINO: the couple loves each other, they love the gas attendant, they kill him. They stick gum in his nose. They laugh.

NORMAL: police find a drug shipment. They kill the drug dealers. They celebrate.
TARANTINO: police sell the drug shipment to the dealers. They play dice. The first one to roll a 6 shoots his closest friend with a machine gun.

NORMAL: the psycho dies at the end of the movie after a long chase.
TARANTINO: the good cop dies, the psycho lives happily everafter with his wife and kids... the cop's.

NORMAL: bullets land on the chest, arms, hands or maybe a wall.
TARANTINO: forehead, crotch, nipples and nasal cavities.

NORMAL: a couple is happy, fantasizing about a robbery they'll never commit.
TARANTINO: the couple is happy because the corpse of the cashier they've just disemboweled didn't fall over their Happy Meals.

Differences between a Hollywood movie and an Argentine one:

HOLLYWOOD: they can break twenty cars, and if shooting goes wrong, another twenty.
ARGENTINA: due to budget constraints, chase scenes are filmed using a single vehicle.

HOLLYWOOD: the bullets' sound is so real it's almost true.
ARGENTINA: the imitation of BB gun sounds is nearly perfect.

HOLLYWOOD: when an actor is hurt they can fall from incredible heights.
ARGENTINA: maximum height is from a window. The actor lands the wrong way, twists his ankle, and filming is suspended for 15 days.

HOLLYWOOD: to shoot a single scene, they can stop traffic on half a city if need be.
ARGENTINA: most streets are already cut off by pickets.

HOLLYWOOD: they punch each other with so much realism you can feel the pain.
ARGENTINA: the biggest fights among actors are over their names' sizes on movie posters.

That list is super, thank you

I don't like superhero movies. Man of Steel is the only one I may watch. And my usual method of downloading each movie and finding subtitles manually will become a nightmare here, so I'll look into some pirate movie streaming solution.

Also, I watched Fight Club like 15 times and learned many things:
    • The first rule of fight club is, you do not talk about fight club. So is the second.
    • With enough soap we could blow up anything.
    • I am not my job or the money on my bank account.
    • Oxygen gets you high.

Another movie fact: Commando (1985) is a cult hit in Latin America due to its trite plot and cheesy dubbing. You don't need to know Spanish to know how icky these lines sound.

did you check all those 'retrospective' threads? interestingly, the first such thread begins with the year 2010!

the third rule is: the fight club is doomed to fail, but this failure at the same time brings success to the participants! (becoming released from the bonds of the fight club and its 'rules' and learning about themselves in the process - notice also how the same kind of process happened with pre-fight-club bonds/rules/understanding and it will happen again with later developments - these 3 represent 3 cycles of 'history repeating itself')

I read your threads avidly. All the movie suggestions that caught my attention (either because of their genre or recommendation of fellow forum members) have either already been watched or put in my waiting list.

The fight club didn't fail, it just evolved into Project Mayhem And rules no. 1 and 2 were meant to be broken anyway.

yeah, it could be said that both served their purpose, even though they didn't last, got dissolved or something like that

but then got re-established in project mayhem?

no excuses (for not doing things)
    no lies (to himself)

In the book, Project Mayhem goes on. In the movie, its fate isn't clear, but given what happens to Tyler, I doubt it'd last long.

Anyway, note that I do agree with your previous comment; the fight club effectively ceased to exist in its original form, and after its members gained what was to be gained from it, they went to the "next level", where... (see above)

why no questions? because our character would probably quit before he tried any of durden's stunts or if he knew some of what happens later on
Tyler was no dummy, he had everything thought and planned ahead of time.

Now go here and make some megapost about what you think of that movie, because I really liked it

didn't read the book, but i'd expect tyler to self-destruct (during his mayhem-like phase), serving the purpose of advancing our original character to his next level - the original character was always the real one, tyler was a wild/violent phase, a fictional person, a persistent bubble of soap, if you will
