Thread: I'm getting fired.

And there are the reasons given:

* mistreatment of and inadequate conduct with students and teachers
* entrance during time periods that do not match [my] schedule and function
* failure to obey direct orders

Point no. 1 is completely false. I never mistreated or insulted anyone, as tempting as it's been sometimes.

Point no. 2 is technically correct, but not only there was an agreement with the previous rector allowing it, I also stopped doing it as soon as it was asked of me, with a couple of exceptions, which leads us to the following...

Point no. 3: I overestimated the time for my daily walk a few days, and ended up entering the school some half hour or so earlier, because I didn't want to time out on the street doing nothing. It looks like this was a tremendous mistake.

My conclusion: I'm getting fired for having entered my workplace thirty minutes earlier(!?) this month.

I'm currently doing my darnedest to reverse this, but if I'm not successful (which considering we're two business days away from ending this year, seems likely), then let's hope my replacement is as good as I was. I gave 200% of me for that place, and did many things that were beyond my job responsibilities so that everyone could benefit. And now they want to kick me over some petty bullshit. I feel betrayed and used and that's what hurts the most.

Just rushing in to say: I have to be at the school at 10 AM "tomorrow" (i.e. eight hours from now) to have a one-on-one discussion with the rector about this and see what we arrive at.

Well, I'm back. I did all the talking I could do yesterday, for two hours total. He stacked the following things against me, all rebuttable or already solved, but didn't budge in the end.

• the schedule thingy I mentioned above,
• "calling others behind [his] back" to mention this whole ordeal (maybe expected me to shut up and move on),
• placing my legs on the desk, which I did some times but stopped after I was asked to,
• taking money out of my own pocket during the winter vacation to buy things we had all agreed the school needed and was going to buy with its own funds, before prices went up; then "causing drama" when I asked for my money back (to be fair, I didn't respect standard procedure, but this issue had already been solved months ago),
• installing "satanic messages" on my computer (i.e. that Windows 95 program),
• threatening staff on at least two occasions with hacking their computers and deleting everything (I'm not sure this actually happened, and if it did, it was nothing but a joke),
• telling buyers from an e-commerce site to visit me at the school to retrieve their purchases,
• constant complaints about my "bad behavior" from students and teachers, which apparently started pouring as early as August; unsurprisingly, details about what was said, by whom and how often were extremely vague.

About the last point: he said that 1. it was the thing that led to this decision, as student mistreatment cannot be tolerated, 2. a coordinator from the government came by to interview students thrice over my would-be mistreatments, and ended up dictating the "you're fired" memo word-by-word to him and the vicerector as a result of what he'd heard. A talk with a union representative and the people on Human Resources confirmed this to be false.

So far I've got these people on my side:

• a school authority who was on leave, but dropped by the school exclusively to find out what was going on, insulted the fuck out of the rector and those who supported this after finding out, then sent a counter-memo and is pulling strings on the government,
• the supervisor, capo di tutti capi on the district,
• one of the teachers (see here) supported me in public and private, offering to hand out my CV on other places if things got ugly,
• HR is currently evaluating my case, but they already have all my counterarguments and an otherwise pristine record of me.

And watch out, here comes the worst part...

When I got the e-mail telling me they didn't want me next year, I forwarded it to my workmate (who's also a very good friend of mine), asking whether she'd heard of or could do something about this. The answer: she already knew this would happen, was angry with me and the authorities for putting her through this, had enough as it is and didn't want to deal with someone else's problems, "hope everything works out".

When I had the chair incident on 2013 (see here), she was desperate and did everything to prevent me from leaving. When the government threatened to cut our time and budget on 2014, she was desperate and did everything to prevent me from leaving.

Now, zero warnings, zero support. I don't think I need to state how I feel about this.

The foot accident happened more than a few weeks ago, it just looks recent if you binge through all the new posts on the chat thread And I wasn't even there at the time - it'd already happened when I entered that day, I only witnessed the aftermath myself. It would be far-fetched to blame me for this... I'll go with theory no. 1.

True, and I don't regret having done it if that's how I sounded. My work helped a lot of people (the vast majority of whom aren't the ones sided against me right now) and that was the goal.
