Since ad-blocking no longer works for me on youtube, I found an alternate solution: I download everything larger than 1 hour off youtube on my HDD and watch it later on my media center.
I don't even select the quality of the video due to lack of time, just download all of them for every clip.

On a different note, UpdatePack7R2-17.10.10.exe has just been released. 11 editions of 7 to update again...

I use mplayer to watch videos sometimes. It doesn't show any ads, but also doesn't handle buffering very well (its reaction to a buffer underrun longer than a few seconds is to end playback, and you will cause an underrun if you pause the video long enough).

There was also a script to replace the YouTube player with whatever you want.
