User scripts and browser addons are third party software too

If you press the preferences (three vertical dots) icon at the top of the page, click on Restore Old YouTube and say you prefer not to answer, you can get the old design back. For a while.

I did the following this weekend:
    • created a new machine naming scheme, with the possibility of adding approx 1 milion host to every one location. All lower case, standardised and supported by each os on the planet
    • updated settings on the router, dns, dhcp, arp
    • added crontab to enable all machines to wol at defined times
    • added all poretable machines a static arp entry for wol
    • repaired dynamic dns entry in crontab, and added an additional 2 services. achived 10 second update time after connection reset
    • created standard setting for windows machines and linix. batch and bash scripts
    • windows laptops and desktops now share common power setting, edited high performance to extreme, including vendor specific settings and lkaptop/desktop setting all in one
    • added a logistics main file with hostnames, mac addresses, IPs, teamviewer ids, shares, tasks
    • transfered 2 TB of data across all internal machines
    • configured startup script to only launch if not on battery
    • reconfigured all virtual machines, new hostnames, shared folder drop point, startup script
    • reconfigured all physical machines

    I'm going to bed...

What I meant was a service. i.e., some downloading site with ads and limits (not to mention the abundance of errors). But thank you for pointing this out.

This is exactly what I'm worried about. At first I tried the "youtube cookie" script (greasemonkey) which helped restoring the previous version. However, after a certain amount of redirects it seems to revert back to it's original state. I'm not worried any more since I have a firefox' addon which can help doing the download(s) automatically (via the cache link method). Also *Thank You* for the tip!

Anyone knows if there's any big difference in video rips between 720/1080p HDTV and 720/1080p WEBrip?

    @yoco
didn't check that many but it ought to be quite similar, especially if of a similar file size
for these sources 1080p is overkill

    Parable of the Two Birds

Two birds, beautiful of wings, close companions, cling to one common tree: of the two one eats the sweet fruit of that tree; the other eats not but watches his companion. The self is the bird that sits immersed on the common tree; but because he is not lord he is bewildered and has sorrow. But when he sees that other who is the Lord and the beloved, he knows that all is His greatness and his sorrow passes away from him...

webrip usually doesnt come with surround. It's mostly stereo while some HDTV rips do have it. Quality-wise, it's gonna be more or less the same depending on the person that ripped it.
Depending on the content, 720p is usually good enough. If your tv is enormous though, going for a 1080p one will improve the quality noticeably .

    Hope this helps you understand!

Web-DL is generally of a better quality than HDTV although that improvement may be only marginal depending upon the source from which the respective rips have been obtained.

HDTV rips, as the name indicates, are obtained from recordings of TV Shows when they’re airing. Web-DL on the other hand is obtained from a 1080P or 4K source which is made available for online viewing such as in iTunes, HBO Online or (in the case of movies) early Digital releases of Blu-Ray movies.

The general rule of thumb in the different video qualities goes:

    CAM < SCAM < TS < TS-HD < DVD < HDTV < WEB-DL < BLU-RAY < 4K < Theater

CAM: Camera Rip or Camera Recording
    SCAM: Super-Camera Rip
    TS: TeleSync
    TS-HD: High Definition Telesync Rip
    DVD: Digital Video Disk
    HDTV: High Definition Television
    WEB-DL: Web Download

The comparison, without knowing the compression bit rate and or the video codec being used, is meaningless.

720p refers to the spatial resolution. Beyond that, it is the bit-rate and video codec that determine the overall quality.
