ist doch jetzt alles xvid.
und für hd ist ja x264 so oder so viel besser.

Naja im Prinzip ist DivX das gleiche wie XviD. Unterschied besteht darin das
DivX nicht offen ist, heißt es darf nur von denen weiter entwickelt werden, die es Erfunden haben. Da das viele doof fanden, haben sich ein paar Leute gedacht:"Das doch scheiße, wir entwickelt das nochmal, nur lassen wir den Codec einfach anders herum codieren und encodieren...". So ist XviD entstanden. Deshalb hat auch XviD die größere Zukunft, weil das von jedem Weiterentwickelt werden kann und auch ständig wird. :wink:

...der xvid codec basiert doch auf einer älteren Version von divx oder?
und wurde doch jetzt schon seit Jahren eigenständig weiter entwickelt...
haben die codecs noch viel gemeinsam ausser dem Container?

Aber wie mein Vorredner glaube ich auch, dass die meisten Leute heute XVid oder H264 nehmen...

haben die codecs noch viel gemeinsam ausser dem Container?
Fast alles, die Unterschiede sind nur Details.
Ich hab schon einige XviDs auf DVD-Playern, die nur DivX wollen, ans Rennen gebracht, indem ich einfach nur die Codec-Kennung umgepatcht habe. Lief meistens tadellos.

Was dennoch nichts daran ändert, das beide heute eigentlich witzlos sind.
