I am trying to install the P2P search engine Faroo (witch seemed promising when I discovered it): FAROO - Peer-to-peer Web Search Engine (http://www.faroo.com/).

This apps use microsoft framework .NET 2. But after I installed it, every time I try to run it, there is some execution problem. First, a window's popup appears (with title: "csc.exe: Entry point unfoundable"), saying
Entry point of GetRequestedRuntimeInfo cannot be found in mscoree.dll. When I click on "Ok", the popup reappears many times, and then, aftter clicking many "ok", an other popup appears (again csc.exe message):
Unable to load C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727mscorwks. dll
When I click OK on this last popup, the first reappear, many times again.

So I have downloaded Framework 2.0 SP1 from Download details: .NET 2.0 SP1 (x86) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=79BC3B77-E02C-4AD3-AACF-A7633F706BA5&displaylang=en)
and I have tried to reinstall it.

But each times the install process fails, and I get the following ngen.exe popup:
entry point of GetRequestedRuntimeInfo cannot be found in mscoree.dll

I have no idea how to fix this Framework.NET/Mscoree.dll problem.

Thank you if you could help me.

first. lets have some fun

really cool thing is that this exact post is in the google cache. Must have been in the cache right after you posted.

Hey!!! We're on the internet!!:biggrin::smile::biggrin:

Look. Here's proof::biggrin:

Unable to load C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727mscorwks. dll - Google Search (http://www.google.ca/search?q=Unable+to+load+C%3AWINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFr ameworkv2.0.50727mscorwks.dll&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a)

Ok. Lets get serious, shall we.

first go here for some ideas on solutions. Read very, very carefully the post in this forum:

https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=299021

it basically is telling you, you need a component in the .net framework that, that particular framework is missing. Its too damn techy for me. But there is an answer there that I did read about.

A better approach is to go here for a shortened response to your problem:

WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727mscorwks.dl l could not be loaded - Forum discussion on the Windows Embedded Standard, the next generation of Windows XP Embedded. (http://forums.microsoft.com/EmbeddedWindows/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2670734&SiteID=47)

read the post made by the member " SedaliaSue " in that forum. She has a shortened explanation for the same person who shares your problem.

I have no idea if your using that vista crap or not, but if you are, here's some info for you on how you can log on as admin and hopefully make repairs to the missing components:

mscorwks.dll could not be loaded - Vista Forums (http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/169265-mscorwks-dll-could-not-loaded.html)

there's also some help here on the issue:

Re: MSCOREE.DLL problems (http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/WinXP/microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support/2006-10/msg00973.html)

there is one small solution in the Relevant Pages section of that same page, though I doubt that you'd want to go that far. It basically entails you re-installing your OS. I wouldn't do that unless your desperate. Hold off on that one for awhile, yet.

sorry. I'm not a computer geek.

I';m going to double post here for a reason: If I edit my post, it'll get too long and you'll get lost in the mass confusion of information.

You also need to educate yourself on what your problem entails.

for example: ngen.exe is
The Native Image Generator (Ngen.exe) is a tool that improves the performance of managed applications. Ngen.exe creates native images, which are files containing compiled processor-specific machine code, and installs them into the native image cache on the local computer. The runtime can use native images from the cache instead using the just-in-time (JIT) compiler to compile the original assembly.

you can find more information here:

Native Image Generator (Ngen.exe) (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/6t9t5wcf(VS.80).aspx)

Next.
YOu can find additional answers by going to MSDN:

Here's the link;

MSDN Troubleshooting and Support (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/aa570318.aspx)

You may even be able to speak with someone live. I.e.: live support.

That page link that I gave you above, lets you use the support MSDN forums. You problem isn't going to be fast and quick. You need to search.

anyways. I've done some searcching for you. Here's some answer and I think that this, hopefully will solve your problem.

Have a look here:

that is pretty much the final proof you need that youe Frameworks 2.0 has gotten corrupt. Probably what happened was there was a problem with the update that got auto installed and it did not funish or that seems to be whats has happened with these corruptions of 2.0 we are seeing a lot of.

You will need to completely uninstall the .Net Frameworks (control panel >add/remove programs) then download and install Microsoft .Net Frameworks 2.0 (follow the link from the SimPE download page) to get it. make sure you are downloading 2.0. Then re-install it and reboot your computer. then try SimPE again

That quote comes from this post here:

SimPE - The Sims 2 Package Editor » Forum (http://simpeforum.ambertation.de/forum/viewpost/26737#26737)

made by user: 'Stormwench"

as well. Personnally, I think your missing a KB article for your computer. You know, the KB updates??

There may be some solutions here:

bug.gd - Solved Bugs (http://cc.msnscache.com/cache.aspx?q=entry+point+of+getrequestedruntimeinf o+cannot+be+found+in+%22mscoree+dll%22&d=74491929178858&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&w=be81fd76,d4f435fe)

I have a funny feeling there may be.
actually. There is and it leads you to this web-link:

Error message when you try to start Money 2005 or Money 2006: "The procedure entry point GetRequestedRuntimeInfo could not be located in the dynamic link library mscoree.dll" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913615)

look. I did all this work for you and no candy??:frown:

Thank you very much for your work. I am going to study your very interesting links. I though something was wrong with my . NET frameworks, and and I tried to uninstall and reinstall them all one by one. I had .NET 1.0 SP3, 1.1 SP1 and 2.0 SP1. So, I first tried to uninstall .NET 2.0 SP1, then 1.1, etc.

But the uninstall process failed each times. I finally discovered a link on A. Stebner's blog, witch solve one part of my problem. Here is this link. It is very fine: Aaron Stebner's WebLog : Removal tool to fix .NET Framework install failures (http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/08/406671.aspx)

.Net frameworks seems really to be evil stuff.

So, with Stebner's apps, I became able to uninstall my .NET framework 2.0 SP1, and 1.1 SP1. But unable to unistall 1.0 SP3.

Then, I have reinstalled 1.1, rebooted my PC, reinstalled SP1 for 1.1, and rebooted my PC again. At this point, I have the choice to directly try to reinstall 2.0 SP1, or to first reinstall 2.0, and then, 2.0 SP1. I choose the most progressive way, I tried first to reinstall 2.0. There was no problem with 2.0, but when I tried to reinstall 2.0 SP1, a very brief popup appeared (an other getrequestedtimeinfo problem I think). Nevertheless, the install process went to end. Then, I rebooted my PC an other time, checked with all my .NET installation with an other Stebner's apps (netfx_setupverifier_new) reinstalled Faroo and... The same popups error than 6 hours before appeared.....:icon_angry[1]:

I should tell you that if your going to uninstall something that is that integrated into your computer, you may as well delete the registry files as well.

Registry files are not necessarily taken out after you've uninstalled some program from your computer, you know. Some do stick around and make your computer start longer than is necessary.

THE FOLLOWING IS OPTIONAL:

I think I made my point by having emphasized the above red text.

If your competent enough with this sort of thing you can use the regedit or you can make life easier for your-self by using some kind of software like "registry lite"; for example. If you want to go all the way and clean out your registry the right way and make your life easy, you can go here:

|MG| Registrar Lite 5.5.6 (http://majorgeeks.com/download469.html)

Its free by the way.

I use it b/c I don't feel like pressing 'F3' all the time. I know how to clean my registry correctly, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it, then forget everything I've just texted.

Here's some examples of where netframework is in your registry files:

So anyways.

Since I responded to your article about you seeking help, I might as well stick it through the end.
I hope someone competent comes here and helps me out with this thing too cuz I don't know if I can really help you to solve this thing right to the end.

So. Lets continue, shall we.

by the way. I have never heard of NET framework 1.0 SP3.

does this thing really exist?? Is it even necessary to install on your computer??

Do you even have netframework 2.0 SP 2???[I]

do you think that framework 1.0 SP3 is interfering with framework SP 2??

You seem to only have netframework 2.0 SP1. YOu never mentioned anything about SP 2. You can get it here:

It's very king from you to have searched all these informations.

If your competent enough with this sort of thing you can use the regedit or you can make life easier for your-self by using some kind of software like "registry lite"; for example.

I handle the register the least often as possible  (but sometimes I have to).

If you want to go all the way and clean out your registry the right way and make your life easy, you can go here

I agree. According the log files, Stebner's apps do a clean uninstall, with cleaning out the registry. For improved security, I had used Ccleaner at the end of the unistall/reinstall process I spoke about yesterday. But I didn't know |MG| Registrar Lite 5.5.6. I will try it the next time.

Concerning NET framework 1.0 SP3:

does this thing really exist?? Is it even necessary to install on your computer??

Do you even have netframework 2.0 SP 2???[i]

do you think that framework 1.0 SP3 is interfering with framework SP 2??

According log file from Stebner's apps:

11/24/08,21:27:05] Install state for .NET Framework 1.0: installed with service pack 3.
[11/24/08,21:27:05] Install state for .NET Framework 1.1: installed with service pack 1.
[11/24/08,21:27:05] Install state for .NET Framework 2.0: installed with no service packs.
[11/24/08,21:27:05] Install state for .NET Framework 3.0: not installed.
[11/24/08,21:27:05] Install state for .NET Framework 3.5: not installed.

The .Net Framework 1.0 SP3 do exist, see e.g. You may receive a "Setup Failed" error message or an "Error 1706" error message when you try to install the .NET Framework 1.0 SP3 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908907)

Moreover, it seems (I' have XP) that now, .Net Framemork 1.0 is belonging to the OS. That could explain why I failed to uninstall it.

But it follows that if this part of my .Framework is corrupted, I certainly have to reinstall my OS :frown:

I hope that I"m not too late in posting this. I have a funny feeling you may have already re-installed the OS.

HOld off on that yet.

do the following:

1. install the framework 1 and all of its subsequent SP, Don't uninstall anything. Just re-install all the framework 1.0 along with its servant SP. What you'll have happen are just overwrites. That won't hurt anything. So overwrite.

2. install the framework 2.0 and all of its subsequent SP. Have everything overwritten too. This is the best course to take. Do not uninstall anything. Only just overwrite.

If you want to install the framework 3.0, then install that too.
I did hear once that framework 3.0 can give headaches. You need to verify that yourself. Cruise the internet before you install framework 3.0.

YOu need to go to different computer/hardware forums to get this information. YOu need to do exactly that before you decide to install framework 3.0.

Though I do believe that it is backwards compatible. But you need to verify that yourself. YOu can't rely on second-hand information. That type of information is unreliable. First hand knowledge is the most reliable.

Here is an idea of where you can start from:

problems with framework 3.0 - Google Search (http://www.google.ca/search?q=problems+with+framework+3.0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a)

I would advise you to start with the MS weblink first.

3 REread everything I"ve just texted in this post.

Other than that, I don't know what else to sing to you.

I am trying to install the P2P search engine Faroo (witch seemed promising when I discovered it): FAROO - Peer-to-peer Web Search Engine (http://www.faroo.com/).

Wow!

I hope for you this is all worth it. Personally I never liked search-engines to look for things I want to download illegally, but hey let us know what your experience with this program is, OK.

Hi SealLion, and happy new year to you.

I have tried to follow your advices. I first downloaded .Net 1.0 redistribuable package and tried to reinstall it without uninstallation (although I think it's impossible for me to uninstall it, as it seems belonging to the OS). But at the begining of the installation, I am urged to choose a location for the extracted files... What location have I to choose ? Perhaps it's unimportant, but I don't know...

So, in order to avoid some mistake, I gave up the installation of .Net 1.0 (normally it's already part of the OS, but how can I be sure it's the case?), and and I tried to install its SP3. But witch SP3 ? On Microsoft site, there are at least three files prefixed by NDP1.0sp3: The NDP1.0sp3-KB867461-X86.exe, the NDP1.0sp3-KB930494-X86-Ocm.exe, and the NDP1.0sp3-KB947739-X86.exe. I tried with each of them. Installation of KB930494 failed because (a popup said) "the system detected a more recent version of the Service Pack. this instalation is useless". Installation of KB867461 and KB947739 failed because "the program to be updated is unfoundable, or the patch is designed for an other version of the program".

So, my attempts on .Net 1.0 concluded by a miserable failure.

But I next tried to install the .Net 1.1 redistribuable package. No problem during this installation. Then, I installed its SP1 servant, the NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe. No problem occured. Then, I tried to install .Net 2.0. The installation occured perfectly. I verified that at this time one of my apps (Memeo autobackup) witch use .Net framework 2.0, was perfectly working.

But... When I then tried to install NetFx20SP1_x86.exe, witch is the SP1 servant of .Net 2.0, a ngen.exe popup appears, saying:
Entry point of GetRequestedRuntimeInfo cannot be found in mscoree.dll :frown:

This problem make me mad, as I completely misunderstand it and worst, because of it, I can't use some apps such e.g. DriverDetective or Stealthnet (witch use .Net framework 2.0: I always get the "GetRequestedRuntimeInfo" messagewhen I try to run it).

edit I have just succeded to install NetFx20SP1_x86.exe without installing first .net 1.1 or 2.0. No "GetRequestedRuntimeInfo" message during this installation. But e.g. DriverDetective don't work. When I run it, I get many "GetRequestedRuntimeInfo" messages, plus many csc.exe messages saying
unable to load C:WINDOWS Microsoft.NET Frameworkv2.0.5072 mscorwks.dll

HOly frak!!!

I thought this thread went to 'thread-heaven'. I thought that you were able to solve this little problem.

Well, nevertheless. I guess I"ll help you out here.

First, the reason why your getting:

"GetRequestedRuntimeInfo" messages,

is because your missing a number of files. Here, check it out:

Click on the bar to see all of it

http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/855/62536333ak4.jpg

I got the above from this link:

GetRequestedRuntimeInfo Function (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms230176.aspx)

Basically, its telling you that you don't have the required information. In this case, because you were able to install this:

NetFx20SP1_x86.exe without installing first .net 1.1 or 2.0.

without first installing .net 1.1 or 2.0, that remains the problem. You needed to install one before you had to install the other.

But you mentioned that you had problems with the installation of that first. Well, what I can tell you is that those .NET - related files go into C:/Windows folder.

That is where you would find files related to such folders.

So, what to do???...

God..I hope someone intelligent and knows what they're doing comes to help me here.

I don't know if I can do this on my own.

What I can also tell you is that your "csc.exe" messages are also coming from the a sub-folder from within C:/Windows folder.

YOu won't find this .exe file inside the Windows folder because this file csc.exe is not a Windows core file.

I am just wondering if your applications use Microsoft Visual Studio.NET or Microsoft Visual Studio. I think those use .Net framework sources.

If you don't have .Net related sources and some of your programs need those, then most likely you are running into the problems that your having.

And most likely, this is the reason why your getting: GetRequestedRuntimeInfo messages. Its because you don't have .Net 2.0.

And this is also why your getting:

unable to load C:WINDOWS Microsoft.NET Frameworkv2.0.5072 mscorwks.dll

There is a library file that your missing and it belongs to .Net Framework 2.0.

You need v2.0. That file that's missing is in there.

first, go to this link here:

How to repair an existing installation of the .NET Framework (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306160/)

And read it carefully. There are additonal links on the Right Hand side of that page.

Try that for starters.

Other than that, I really don't know what to do.

Now...if all else fails, then do this:

A. Write down {to download for later} or save all the different programs that you currently have on some external HDD of your computer.

B. Re-install the whole OS.

sorry, I really don't know what else to suggest to you.

Its a shame b/c installing the OS requires for you to basically install your disc and driver disc all over again. Not to mention that your going to get the 'update' icon in your task bar pretty much every day for the whole week or 2.

And that I know is annoying, with the exception of disabling the update cuz its pretty useless as the update wants you to update IE browser.

And who cares about that stupid browser???

If you do decide to re-install the entire OS all over again, don't forget to install SP3 as well.

Install everything in order as well.

Don't install NET 3 before NET 2. Do it in order.
