NEW YORK (AP)—Unbeaten Jorge Teron successfully defended his WBO lightweight title by stopping Michael Lozada at 1:23 of the sixth round of a scheduled 10-round fight Friday night.
It was the seventh knockout in the last 11 fights for Teron, a New Yorker who weighed 153 pounds.
Two long hooks from Teron early in the sixth had Lozada taking a standing 8-count from referee Peter Santiago.
Following the count, Teron landed two left hooks to the body and Santiago, seeing Lozada was still wobbly, stopped the fight.
