Top consumer electronics executives and trade reps are telling the Federal Communications Commission that they're worried about a rush request from Hollywood studios for a lift on the agency's ban on Selectable Output Control. "Concern was expressed that the powers sought by this Petition as filed would likely be used to the disadvantage of consumers, technology, and competition," Michael Petricone, Consumer Electronic Association (CEA) vice president and Adam Goldberg of Pioneer Electronics told an aide to FCC Chair Kevin Martin on Wednesday, July 16, according to their FCC filing.

Petricone and Goldberg added that the plea "did not appear to embrace, accept, or acknowledge any potential limitation on such powers, or any burden or demonstration necessary for them to be acquired." Public Knowledge has filed similar comments, calling the MPAA proposal "vague both as to the nature of the proposed business model and the types of devices that will be subject to selectable output control if the waiver is granted."

and the weird part about it is that they don't realize that they are the cause of all this problem.
