BASTAD, SWEDEN (TICKER) —Tommy Robredo kept the Spanish run going at the Swedish Open.
The third-seeded Robredo won the claycourt event for the second time in three years Sunday with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over No. 4 Tomas Berdych.
Robredo became the fourth straight Spanish player to win here. David Ferrer, whom Robredo knocked out in the semifinals, won last year and Rafael Nadal claimed the 2005 crown.
“I am obviously very happy to have won the title here in Bastad once again. I love this tournament and it feels great to win it here,” Robredo said.
Also a three-time semifinalist here, Robredo used his second break of the match to take a 4-3 lead. He held the rest of the way en route to closing out the first set.
