I ditched nero for some time now...been using the VSO burning suite (copytodvd, blindwrite, convertxtodvd). Very simple and very effective, thats all i need.
ImgBurn is so much better :)
but it's always good to know there are alternatives

Yeah this is the point LOL  since Nero got too heavy after Version 7.0 coz of its included toolz which are useless IMO
agree :top: nero got very bloated lately, that's why a lot of people use older versions. newer ones install a lot of stuff you will never use and that can't be removed by conventional means (nero scout!? when will i use that, keep 'my computer' clean !!)

yeah cdburner xp have ~2.7, imgburn~1.7
actually nero lite and micro is pretty good, installed and running in my laptop
yeah cdburner xp have ~2.7, imgburn~1.7

and can you tell why
because I've tried both?
in wich ways this is better then nero  I Read someewhere that nero it's faster then this in cd burning :confused2:
unless an app has serious bugs there is no better or worse. it's just a matter of taste.
and burning fast is not a good idea anyway
The application is continuously supported..like 3 updates every month..no such thing as bugs.

I know.I was just trying to add some more info:happy:
nero or this is better ?
a few years ago I decided Nero was too heavy for me and tried free burning programs..
I stumbled across CDBurnerXP which was great and all but it couldn't write Audio CDs properly..
there was a bug with the writing library that interrupted writing VBR MP3 files to a audio CD.
I thought I could wait and encode all my VBR that I want to burn to CBR but I waited for months and they still didn't go for the other writing library.. so I got back to Nero, this time Nero Micro (38MB(!)) and I feel good with that.
I don't know whether they (CDBurnerXP) fixed it or not, it's an incredible program, but that problem was too much for me:rolling_eyes:
so it's Nero (MICRO!) for me..

I'm sure they fixed that nasty bug by now:happy:
If this thread is now about which burning program you use, mine was Ashampoo Burning Studio until it started to give me a lot of coasters. I then switched to ImgBurn.
Imgburn is a bit slow...but then again I'm no expert.
I prefer CDburnerXP.
For me 15MB/s DVD burning isn't slow but I'm not an expert either
I only follow the basic tips: turn off your antivirus before burning, close all unnecessary apps, keep your hands off the PC during the process...
That's what I always do.:lool:
I don't want to buy extra DVDs..
turning antivirus off? first time I hear that affects burning..
I usually burn and leave the PC alone to do its thing but recently I didn't have time and burned in a rush whilst doing stuff and listening to songs on Winamp.. the DVDs turned out okay though!
No it doesn't affect burning. It affects computer performance and performance sometimes affects burning.
turning antivirus off? first time I hear that affects burning..
It's probably like SBfreak said. I turn it off because otherwise my antivirus will scan the files as I burn them, and that can have a bad side-effect.

I never thought of turning the AV off. Such a basic tweak! i will try this as I get very high burning times (16min to burn and 30 to verify)

It's probably like SBfreak said. I turn it off because otherwise my antivirus will scan the files as I burn them, and that can have a bad side-effect.
It could be possible that on a slower PC the disabling of the AV could help to get a working cd/dvd, but I think nowadays on a normal decent pc you dont have to turn off your AV.
There won't be any side-effects. I can confirm that at least for Kaspersky and older Symantec Engines.
I can confirm this because I am always making a verify scan after burning the disk.
However, today I erased all my nero stuff and replaced it with CDBurnerXP Portable and InfraRecorder Porable.
Together around 9 MB, so thats the way to go.
ImgBurn & InfraRecorder/CDBurnerXP is a good combo. :top:
BTW, I am not sure but for me it looks like as the whole web is bloated today by CDburnerXP Release-News.

So NET 4 huh? Disgusting! I hate it when your favorite soft starts going from Dr Jekyll to Mr Hyde. Besides, Joliet STILL does not work and I still have issues when erasing files from a compilation (keeps the file's used space); but I guess that NET 4.0 is more important....because 3.5 is SO outdated and SO not worthy.
Why CDBurnerXP it is free it does what it is supposed to, it is lightweight and frequently updated with new features and bug fixes.
