I'm not too sure on how old this video is but I don't think it matters though.

Enjoy

True. Not just elephants, pretty much most of the wild animals should be in their natural habitat. However, it depends to what extent wild animals habitat are present in that country.
Here in India, forest area in general & elephant ecosystem in particular is getting thinner by the day due to obvious reasons.Hence wild animals are pushed to pseudo wild habitat created by human.

currently, regarding that part of the world, the animal sanctuary is probably as good as it gets - my guess is they basically collect animals which for various reasons (finances, space requirements,...) aren't able to stay/remain at 'nearby'/local/state zoo's - the other option might be shipping them back to where they (or their parents) originally came from, which brings its own share of problems (finances, stress, re-adjustment,...)

be as it may, the elephants have no other option than to adjust to their current habitats (be it 'the wilderness', zoo, sanctuary, circus, city, 'farm',...), finding a somewhat satisfactory coexistence within the environment regarding other surrounding species and ofc especially humans

a natural habitat is nothing more than a place (any place) to which some species managed to adapt itself to, which occurs after a certain period of time (adaptation period) - and yes, that includes the 'concrete jungle' too, meaning: all habitats are essentially natural, some more, others less hospitable/preferable regarding various species

as for the video above, there's nothing strange about that animal friendship, its simply unusual due to the fact that animals of a certain species mostly tend to form groups based on their psycho-physical compatibility - if any of that is missing/inadequate, they will form relationships with that which is currently available/suitable, ie. its another form of adaptation regarding their surroundings (additionally, the adaptation process works both ways, so 'vice versa' applies as well)
