View Full Version : Which tracker needs a design overhaul?
I'd like to start with:
BitSoup
They haven't change the design in years,the site has decent speeds and content but their awful design ruins this tracker IMO :tongue:

None. Every time a tracker changes its design, it's for the worst. It happened to SCC, it happened to TL and also another one I can't recall.

well to be honest since this is part of my job it needs creativity if you don't have it then your design won't be that good also it needs the developer to be aware of some tools .

I'll admit it looks okay, actually. FilePorn also got a facelift as part of a major site recode early this year, and they also did it right. The key as far as I'm concerned is looking more modern without making radical changes.

RevTT new design is great IMO,I do not know FP is changing it's design too, one tracker that change its design without making radical changes is TBy and looks really nice.I think sometimes like you said some trackers are really radical but their designs are a mess, for example I insist with GFT ,I'm not sure at what point a layout design makes you comfortable at the site,because the main reason you are in the tracker is for leeching and maybe be part of the community by the way I think the design is important not the first priority for staff but they should consider good designs!

TL changes are major[icons background,etc], and its kinda suck.
where as IPT... they always change the upper background rest all are the same.

If the design looks like crap, it greatly deters me from using the tracker. It doesn't have to be beautiful, only good enough to allow for easy browsing and not straining my eyes with bright colors and the like.

If IPT had an option to choose your site banner (or disable it altogether, which I do via user scripts) it'd be perfect.

yes it looks good. however it's not very individual. just the style that is considered trendy these days. the old one was more individual.

Just like x264.me ,
the options to change layout themes,colors or icon sets is a nice feature like in What.cd and Waffles ,the members are free to choose how do they prefer that the tracker looks like and that kind of options will fulfill user needs like anon's idea of not straining your eyes with bright colors :biggrin:

I also liked the old theme they had, it was very cool but you can't use it anymore... Too bad.
I used to like the Iplay design but now it makes me wanna kill myself. I wish there was something minimalistic and with a hacker/nerd like feel attached to it so I can remind myself why I chose torrents instead of a normal social life :lol:
I was actually asking myself how iPlay was looking these days (don't have an acc anymore - got banned here too :wgrin: ).
I see they still pride themselves with some decent designs that make me wanna shoot myself in the kneecap, after prolonged exposure.
I used to design trackers or at least help around from time to time and there is one important lesson I learnt: people don't like change. Even if it's better or at least one thinks, people like things being constant.
RevTT is looking better but there are still things bugging me, about it's design.
I've been wanting to through some design ideas (something cute, simplistic) at a tracker lately (been thinking for more than 2 years) but I haven't found a suitable host yet. Maybe someday ( yes... some very distant day ) I will finally return.

Bitsoup's design can't be worse.
What I really hate are some ad filled trackers,like CHDbits,TorrentGui and some porn sites.
CHDbits' staff is greedy, they eliminated poor bandwidth users and some users have to survive by donation.
of course, they receive great amount of donation, but the advertisements are still e/w on the site.
NexusPHP's blue theme is cool, though.

cool templates !!! it's like opening ps then your done :biggrin: but still a forum or blog design will always be better.
I absolutely have to bring up salad.tl.. its not the most popular tracker, but has some pretty interesting content imo.. but the design just plain sucks!!!
