Plot Summary:
"In Time" presents a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there's a catch: you're genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich "earn" decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo's love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system.

I read the short caption above and a part of this film, with respects to age, almost reminded me of Logan's Run. Another film where one of the aspects of the film is of age. Albeit having to escape as a Runner from the Sandman of course.

"In Time" presents a world where time has become the ultimate currency.

it doesn't really matter what gets used as currency, since it will eventually (or rather, from the start) become a tool for exploitation of those located at the lower levels of societal or power pyramid(s) - those patterns remain quite similar regardless of the given age or the illusion of societal advancement, perhaps even regardless of overall awareness of the situation

you're genetically-engineered

correction: the body was genetically tampered with ('engineered' per the following definition: 'to contrive or plan out usually with more or less subtle skill and craft')

unless you can buy your way out of it.

here enters the artificially prepared terrain for 'the struggle', from which innovation & adaptation create 'new values' (which then get implemented/usurped/exploited by the elite, as they are mostly devoid of it due to their decadence), but which has a nasty habit of hanging over one's head just like the sword of damocles, keeping one's attention away from the relevant & focused onto the (seemingly) apparent

interestingly enough, this kind of situation is a natural one, though here it has been mimicked, externally manipulated & exploited as such, further fortified by avid & ignorant followers, not to mention the blessings of the authorities or the tight grip of the established intrusive/demanding regulations

The rich "earn" decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal

its one of their lasting 'wet dreams', reaching near-immortality while maintaining near-absolute control

Living minute to minute, the duo's love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system.

and here enters the (utopian) revolutionary idealist, gathering followers (sound familiar?) to fight the system - if the fight fails he gets replaced by the next one (that may use different tactics/approach/ideals but to the same end-goal), and so on and so forth, until one actually succeeds in violently destroying the previous system (at least the visible/tangible structure), only to become the next dictator, supporting & enforcing his own, similarly flawed vision, which generally reaps the same results as the 'original' manipulated system did, ie. falls into the same trap and the dependent/addicted/ignorant/chained rest end up on the same road as their predecessors (the one paved with 'good' intentions) - simply an example of history yet again repeating itself...in time
