Sony Ericsson’s presence at CommunicAsia2011, though officially not as a participant, has left much to make us a thrilled lot. The company showed us not one, but three new phones – and gosh, they are just amazing stuff, to say the least. Of the three, the Android-powered smartphones Xperia Ray and the Xperia Active come equipped with the hottest Gingerbread version. Meanwhile, the third phone, christened Sony Ericsson Txt, may be seen as tribute to the formerly announced Sony Ericsson Txt Pro.

The Xperia Ray has a striking resemblance to the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Take a deeper look and you will find it has a similar shape and form factor as of the Xperia Arc too. However, a closer probe would reveal that its design is made unique by some slight twists in menu buttons that makes it comparatively smaller and sleeker than the X10.

The phone is 9.4 mm thin and weighs 100g. A look at the specs will open up before you an 8.1-megapixel front-facing camera, a scratch resistant 3-inch screen with an 854 x 480 resolution. The display also sports the fantastic Sony Ericsson Timescape UI.

To be offered in four different hues – black, gold, white and pink, we expect the device to be made available in a price range of $470 to $486.

Next up the sleeve is the super smart Sony Ericsson smartphone christened Xperia Active. Designed with sporty and rough users in mind, this device also comes with a scratch resistant 3-inch display and a 320 x 480 resolution.

When Sony Ericsson boasts that the touchscreen is so unique that it can perfectly track wet fingers, we tend to think that this is not an exclusive as this is a general feature for many other touchscreens too. The phone, however, is

Indeed truly sporty when it comes to the water resistant (under 1m of water for up to 30 minutes) and dustproof features.

Other features include GPS, Bluetooth support and barometer and it comes as an absolute choice for joggers to track and plan their run routes. The company might brig it on along with a wrist strap, arm case, and white or black back covers. It might be cost a little less than the Xperia Ray.

Meanwhile, the Sony Ericsson Txt aims at social media addicts. Unlike the other two, this one comes minus the touchscreen and has a 2.6-inch screen, QWERTY keyboard and a quick SMS shortcut key. This device has a ‘friends’ app that integrates and notifies you with updates from Facebook and Twitter up to a maximum of 5 friends.

There are other things lacking, as compared with the earlier two. The Txt gives 3G connectivity the miss, and that would make you pull updates via the built-in Wi-Fi. To come in white, black, pink and blue shades, the Sony Ericsson Txt is expected to carry a price tag of around $150.

We hear select markets will see the Xperia Ray and Xperia Active come to them by the third quarter of this year, while Txt will be available by Q4 of 2011. Tell us which of these devices you would prefer to flaunt.
