View Full Version : what might my bt client have done to cause this?

I was using utorrent 1.8.3 on thebox.bz on a seedbox and everything was fine for a good couple of weeks then this morning I woke up to find my client disabled and after inquiring they accused me of cheating when I inquired further they said that **MB coming from my client announce was unacceptable.

So what do you think they meant I am still trying to figure it out?

I can think of 2 cases:
-either somebody was ghost leeching( not sure it works there) or your seedbox provider is not that great...

I was using utorrent 1.8.3

Should have updated to a newer version already. At least 1.8.5.

I know 18 is 18, but how much is ** in real numbers?

I put the ** in there because I can't remember what the numbers were I use a leaseweb server for my seedbox and what I would do is download a torrent and then just leave it seeding.

Is that what could have been my mistake leaving torrents seeding for an infinite amount of time even though that is not cheating I can see how it might appear to be due to the high speeds leaseweb server puts out.

Tracker staff knows who's using a seedbox and who's not. There's no way seeding a lot plus high speeds from a dedicated server could have got you banned.

Ready some screenshots of your box, go to their IRC channel again, ask to politely explain your situation again and show those pictures, maybe even invite a staff member to log in to your box and see.

If they still refuse, they're assholes, but what can you do?

Assholes they must be then they blocked me after telling me I was a terrible cheat and I should try harder next time when I was not cheating in the first place and utorrent 1.8.3 is the latest they recommend. Well they might think I need to try harder to be a cheat but I don't need to try very hard to switch my ip and the early signs are looking positive hopefully I will be having the last laugh.

It seems to be that if your account gets disable they are non the wiser until you go to irc and ask for help and when they take a supposed close look at your account then if their cheating crap has gone nuts they block your ip so if I get disabled again I won't even be bothering with irc again.

Still a head scratcher though why would a unmodified utorrent 1.8.3 cause cheating script to go off and especially as they new I was using a seedbox I was seeding torrents on other trackers to could some information have got into thebox announce info and mudded it?

There's a bit more to that than changing your IP.

Absolutely not. Buggy script that felt like semi-randomly smashing you are what I'd put my money on.

Buggy scripts that can't recognize a seedbox. :pinch:

yeah I am starting to think that after it happened I done some googling and I am by no means the only casualty who has lost their account in this manner thanks for the link I'll check it out I am not giving up and any information I really appreciate it.

Part of the thing that ticks me off is the fact I was polite did not swear call them names but they did not want to know and this is what they force these innocent users to resort to.

True, although not everyone was innocent like you claim to be. :wwink:

That's how nice IRC can be.

By the way feel free to click on the Thanks button below my posts when you find them useful.

I know there is obviously no proof I am innocent but try this for some indication which I told them to I joined 31/03/10 got into a spot of bother with my ratio (never having used a ratio tracker before) donated to get out of ratio watch and then carried on with out incident for close to a year if I was them that would have made me think those are not the usual habits of a genuine cheater but they just love their power I guess.

Hah, so you even donated to the tracker and they still treated you like dirt. Best BitMeTV style. Well, now you know which mistake not to make next time you're on a .bz site.

I sure do. I am a lot more ratio savvy now about how to maintain a good ratio so I definitely won't be making that mistake again at least I enjoyed 8 months I think I got my moneys worth.
