View Full Version : What part of DELETE don't you tracker staff understand?

I just very politely asked a few sites where I was very inactive but still enabled to delete my accounts. I was pretty clear on the matter - I wanted them to be deleted and not disabled. After letting a few minutes pass since my requests, I did some random clicking to see if they were granted.

I'm redirected to login forms, and for the first time I'm happy to see that. I try to log in precisely to check whether they gave me what I wanted, and not a disablement of some sorts, and what do I get?

Login failed!

This account has been disabled.

When I f***ing asked to be deleted! :gmad:

Title. This is extremely disappointing.

I say you go register back on the sites than ask for the deletion again! Keep doing it until they listen!

Why you prefer being deleted? You want all your data to be cleared?

Yes, exactly. I don't want to leave traces of my previous existence on the server. This has nothing to do with me cheating or not, I just never felt comfortable with that anywhere.

ANd if they were noobs they would do that. There are still some who do that, but they don't really give a fuck about security.

If "gone" means disabled... :gfrown:

That's why I asked them to delete in the first place, otherwise I'd just have wiped them off my KeePass, blasting them into oblivion.

Seems like most of the trackers are doing this now. I remember about a year ago when I needed to delete couple of accounts, the trackers were cooperative. They even used to have /delete.php enabled so you could delete the account yourself. But now they like to keep a permanent record of ur existence. Its probably the whole One account per lifetime bulls#^t. They dont want you coming back and making another account or maybe they feel insulted that you left in the first place. lol

Some trackers say in their FAQ to contact sysop if you want to delete your account. If your account was in good standing then there's no reason they shouldn't delete ur account. I noticed that now trackers like to keep even the disabled accounts active for a long time.. bitmetv, waffles, what.cd, so depending on the tracker you may never get ur account deleted.

I fully understand why they do this (improving the strength of dupe account finding, keeping the forums tidy), but totally hate it. But well, it's the trend nowadays and me moaning about it here won't change anything.

Respect to those trackers that didn't delete delacct.php (no pun intended).
