View Full Version : Is it just me

anon
22.07.10, 23:19
I remember back in the day I used to snatch gigs of stuff every day and listened to/watched/played most of it, but nowadays I've found myself downloading pretty much nothing and almost not using my tracker accounts besides the minimum amount of activity required to keep them alive.

As the title reads, is it just me or are some of you going through the same as well? If so, what do you think may be the cause? Nothing good being released, simple lack of interest, etc.

Sazzy

It's not just you. You're maturing and realising you don't want to spend 24/7 watching tv shows or movies or playing games and whatever. Well that's my reason anyway. Perfectly normal ^^

me as well,
the last time i logged into my trackers was 4+ days ago, gotta check them now..
Also i'm not downloading anymore, I used to feel "power" by downloading EVERYTHING and i've wasted quite a lot of time to get into SCC/SCT which was for nothing..

now I just download what i _really_ need :top:

almost everyone goes through this phase and eventually realize we had downloaded useless stuff 24/7 just for the feeling of "l33tness" . been there , done that and now i just download what i need or which i am going to watch/play/listen .

also generally the warez scene is at its lowest activity level around june to august and around march-april . The Warez season generally is at its peak around September to January .

I wouldn't go so far to actually say that EVERY movie in the last two years was shit. There were plenty of movies I liked.
On another note though, there were even more promising ones and you probably went to watch those in the theaters or downloaded them. Even if you were disappointed in the end

Well for me, its same as you guys in this "down-hill ride" just that the stats are different. Although I used to be downloading 1TB+ a month but now its only around 200GB+..... I'll get there eventually to be downloading nothing at all.... trust me, I will.

And when I really get there one day, I'll definitely feel bad about it cos trackers out there rely on people like me for their "tracker's activeness"...imagine one day every p2p-ers felt like you are now what will happen?

Well, downloading can be very time consuming, and variably rewarding. It will be natural that you first found a great reward in finding those movies, series or music you wanted, but as time passes, you will eventually run out of good stuff to download, and that pesky task of sustaining ratios, cheating, backing up, cleaning your hd, etc; will seem bigger than the reward you initially perceived.
Turned into an analogy, imagine you pay more and more each month for a connection that gets slower and slower; eventually, you will get tired and go play Chin Chon with your Aunt :P
I personally get tired too, but I just have to use P2P because I do not want to be ripped off by the cable company, so I download all of the series I like.

Is not just you all, mate. I'm bored atm too but not just pure boredom, it's more like too busy to check what worth to download especially if you have work to do even if it's just homework.

PS. I wish I could afford to buy tower or NAS to store/archive downloaded stuff without bother to delete/move to DVD :frown:

crystal
23.07.10, 17:21
@crystal - is there any particular reason for this phenomenon?

its easy to note this trend since many of the popular games and movies do release around Sept to Jan which coincides with many festivals around the world and hence more content available , more piracy , more activity .

@cheatos - do you mean SCC is like nothing much to download or over hype?

I think it's a bit hyped, yes. Sure, lightning-fast speeds, amazing pretimes, freeleech packs, etc., but for me someone that doesn't care about that, IPT for example is probably just as good, not to mention it tracks P2P releases, which SCC doesn't.

As for movies I switched from downloading to streaming since the download speed it faster and lots of video sites have HD streaming. As for programs, I make music and I downloaded all the music making software and now I only use a few. It's better to know a few programs at their best then a lot minimally. We have lives and it can't always be on the computer.

Less is more.

Thank you Instab and fakeking,

I'm a DJ from a time when you used vinyl, not diminished quality mp3's like everyone today. Nor am I a licensed producer of music,. If you read my profile, my real job is sales. Music is a hobby, just like a fellow in his basement playing drums or piano.
No profit made, Sazzy you troll!

---------- Post added at 15:27 ---------- Previous post was at 15:09 ----------

Also, If I like a piece of software after testing it, I will buy it, like Logic Studio $499. If I like a song, I will buy the full quality CD or vinyl, not some crap mp3. I love how anybody is so hypercritical concerning warez and pirated music on a torrent client mod site.

I live in one of those "obscure" countries, where "obscure" people work for "non-obscure" countries for a fraction of what they should be paid and do not have the money to pay for software or licenses just to have a hobby or to make a living as a DJ. I can only imagine that you, as an upstand citizen of the 1st world, are just happening to wonder through a leecher site to know what not to do, because you would never ever crack a program or download a rip, right?

And it doesn't just stop there! The cops' official radio bombards us with that "every time you buy a pirated CD, an artist disappears" crap advertisement all the time, while the guys that sell the aforementioned material on the streets have to pay the very same police if they don't want their asses kicked, to say the least. :wtf:

I whine about being told I live in an "obscure" country because I do not pay software licenses. The main reason behind the "obscurity" of most countries lies in the economical, political, social and human terrorism played by the leading nations of the world during the last century. It is a SERIOUSLY delicate matter where I live, something that we have to deal with in our every day life in a way or another.
So please be careful with the words you choose, because some of us might feel hurt, specially when you call a country obscure because software licenses are not enforced; and you do so in a P2P leecher forum (which seems hypocritical)
I will no longer replay in the Thread, I have spammed it enouch already.

This problem happens to almost everyone , the trick is to overcome this boredom quickly, change the movie genres you're used to watch, listen to some music, play some sports and keep life going you know.

I nowadays find watching old movies interesting, i searched every movie i ever watched when i was young and was impressed by it and revisited my old memories, it's really interesting to compare how much you're now different from then.

The bottom line is to change something and don't hold your position for a long time.

To All,
I'm sorry to post this because I'm unable to post personal messages yet.

Sazzy,
I did not mean to offend you after reading our combined posts. I thought you just wanted to attack me from being a noob poster. I just wanted to contribute to a interesting forum. Our countries policies might me different, but our knowledge of music is the same. Let's reconcile, I'd really liked to know the differences in the copyright infringement relating in your country as it is, in the others. (This might be a good new thread!)
I really never dealt with copyright infringement in my area because I have a lot of friends giving me demo's on CD while there in production. New music is from many local vinyl shops in NYC. I don't play crappy MP3's from SoulSeek or from any other P2P. As a producer of music, I can hear the difference between overly copied music from it's original. What countries do you know of, that this occurs? Also how does it go down? Do the police come into the club, or are there secret copyright police?

I'd really liked to know,
