View Full Version : whats your favorite book?
mines Blood Meridian by Cormac Mccarthy
Last book I read was Twilight :o
It was so boring!
I'm actually not that big fan of books, but I do like J.R.R. Tolkien's LOTR trilogy and The Children of Hurin (I think that's the right name)

english dictionary, cool book.
@OP: you could have added some info on that book to stimulate interest
for fantasy i'd also recommend reading tolkien (lotr trilogy & hobbit), roger zelazny (The Chronicles of Amber)
for horror my favorites are clive barker (weaveworld, hellbound heart) & stephen king (many)
for adventure try jf cooper (The Last of the Mohicans), karl may (Winnetou & others)
for mystic adventures a great one is carlos castaneda
for mystery/detective thrillers, Arthur Conan Doyle with his sherlock holmes series is essential
for SF, Arthur C. Clarke would be essential reading
as a side note, books are almost always the best (or more accurately the most comprehensive/engaging) way of getting 'entertainment' (movies & tv are just a pale imitation, often poisoned with corporate/holywood propaganda), but they require patience, privacy & time so that the reader can fully immerse himself in the story
Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
and The Art of War - Sun Tzu are my favourites
M favorite ones are all the books of Barry Eisler. (really great thriller series about a half asian/ causcasian assassin) Even the information he gives when describing how to sneak on somebody or something like that sounds very realistic thanks to his former profession as a CIA Agent and his sources. :top:
what's a book??
reading is always good. ;) Much better than watching TV/movies I think, since your fantasy is trained too. ;)
THe three musketeers - all parts
no books for me...only movie XD
Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow - Greatest SciFi books i ever read
Also a big fan of Michael Crichton books - Kongo, Jurassic Park, Rising Sun and others
I've read Harry Potter all parts and there were quite interesting except some boring parts, but anyway it was great. And the movies i think were more boring, reading books were a bit more entertaining :)

Im surprised to see how many people in here read books, I used to read some stuff until I was 12 which is when I first got an internet connection.
My favourite book is "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace. In my opinion, he was the greatest writer in the second half of 20th century. The books is about a vhs containing a strange movie that keeps going on till the viewer is completely ipnotized and dead! In general, it's a dark parody about consumerism. I truly reccomend you. Oh, it's only 1300 pages ;)

Same, I used to go to the school library every day, but always-on Internet killed that for me :gnoes: At least I read e-books sometimes...
My favorite book is the first book in the Amber Chronicles series.
"Rich Dad Poor Dad" is my favorite book.
Recently read The Art of War - Sun Tzu. Really interesting book. There are many wise tips that can help in life. After reading this book, I now make more thoughtful decisions.
Everything from The Art of War applies to the battlefield of modern society. Also recommended and for similar reasons: The Art of Deception, by hacker legend Kevin Mitnick.

Me neither, but that doesn't change the fact everyone should play Katawa Shoujo.

Pratchett's Discworld series is my current favourite.
My favourite book I’ve read lately would be mr nice autobiography, some captivating material.
To be honest, my favorite book is and always has been Jurassic Park. I must have read it a dozen times and listened to the audiobook at least three times. I always find myself going back to that book, which is something no other book has ever done. Usually I only read a book or watch a movie once and that's it.
