Remarks:

Remark1: Xtreme does an exact overhead-calculation. This means, Xtreme shows more overhead than other eMule-Mods.
Remark2: For the access problem, original website eMule Xtreme Mod official homepage (http://www.xtreme-mod.net) will not update. You can find new information of Xtreme from eMule MoDs - eMule 0.49c Xtreme 7.2 Download (http://www.emule-mods.de/?mods=xtreme).
Remark3: It is better to use CLEAN INSTALL (Delete prefercence.ini in your CONFIG directory).
Remark4: If your upload speed greater than 500kb/s, and you found the upload speed is not stable enough. You can enable 24k send buffer via prefercence.ini by "sendbuffersize=24000". This option can let Xtreme work better.
Remark5: Correct eMule.tmpl located in CONFIG directory. Use correct templet can prevent some error in webinterface.
Remark6: For Chinese users, go to CHNP2P Xtreme (http://www.chnp2p.org/topics/xtreme), you will get a Chinese changelog there.

Peercache is a commercial p2p caching system made by a company called Joltid. The server software is closed source and costs money. The main purpose of peercache is to reduce the amount of traffic an ISP has to exchange with other ISP's.
eMule has supported peercache since version 0.43
By default every two days emule attempts to resolve the domain name edcache.p2p and other names based on the name of the isp such as edcache.p2p.adsl.isp.com and edcache.p2p.isp.com
This can be turned off in extended settings.
There are reports that people who's ISP's use peercache have not be able to download files larger than 4GB unless peercache is turned off.

As far as I know this is no longer used. Basically it is an ISP hosted cache where you can download from, which will be faster than the peer's upload speed, and will reduce congestion (and skip queue.....maybe, don't know).
We all know 99.99% of ISPs are against P2P, so any of them will offer/allow you this cache.
I think it is a legacy thing that the coders have not removed due to lack of time or interest.

But none of our national ISPs do that nowadays, and very few ones (to avoid saying none) on other countries do so. That's why "Disable peercache" is ticked by default.
