View Full Version : F**k Imageshack
...and their tracking cookies expiring sometime in 2036.
For non-sensitive pictures (i.e. not tracker reviews, etc.) here's a nice host that won't set an idiotic cookie every single time you download an image from them:
Free Image Hosting at FreeImageHosting.net - Upload Images for MySpace, Blogs, and Galleries (http://freeimagehosting.net/)
Another one:
http://wimg.co.uk/
And use BayImg for sensitive things you don't want to have taken down. They won't delete anything unless it's illegal under Swedish law or you choose to do it (entering a kill code is compulsory when uploading).
bayimg - free uncensored image hosting (http://bayimg.com/)
I'm tired of Imageshack's shit, I'm blocking their servers entirely in Opera from now on. They didn't do this in the past.

why would you allow cookies from them in the first place?
I'm tired of Imageshack's shit too, But I prefer TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting (http://tinypic.com/) Images get uploaded faster than many sites
why would you allow cookies from them in the first place?
I can't block cookies for specific servers in Opera. The blocks don't survive across restarts, more exactly.

cause of your portable version?
No, it's an Opera bug. Reported it once, they didn't fix it.

i think the version i tried last time didn't have that issü. but i'm not sure. i think i tried 10.60 snapshot or something
So are those 3 you posted in the first post allowed right now on sbi?
BayImg always was. The others are, too, from now on. :happy:

It's totally worth the 4 seconds it takes to type it in. Tinypic is an awesome service.
Tinypic is an awesome service.
how so?
It just is. It has everything you would ever want from an image host imho. I've tried out many and I've always found myself returning to tinypic. And it allows uploading of vids too. (though some others do, too)
It's easy and straightforward. And somehow I find it far more reliable than imageshack. My main point was that filling out the captcha shouldn't be a big deal since other than that, the service is great.
can you delete pics without having to register?
In their faq:
Q: How do I get an image removed?
A: If you have uploaded an image in error or need it removed, you can send us the link via the Contact Us page. Or you can simply mark it as offensive and it will be scheduled for deletion.
I think they go by the policy that pictures don't get deleted. In all honesty, I don't know why you would want to delete it. If the picture is THAT temporary, just mail it. If you use it for a long time and upload a new updated one, just forget about the first one tbh.

in many cases i wanna show something to one or several persons and i don't have nor want their mail and i don't want them to have mine. a very common example would be ratio proofs.
anyway i don't want such pics to be online any longer than they need to be. that's why i prefer imagebam. there i get a delete link right after the upload and i don't have to register for that

I guess captcha is appearing to guys from countries uploading a lot of useless stuff. captcha is appearing to me each time i upload a pic there and they also apply a limitation of certain amount of pics uploaded by IP per day at least that's what happened to me.
anon, if you upload through "Your Uploads" no captcha is needed to be typed..
if you don't have an account I suggest you create one!

I don't want to use IS because of their cookies and you want me to create an account enabling them to track my every move. :lol:

exactly what i was talking about above.
the point is to find a good hoster without cookies and reg. where you also can delete the pics
imagebam.
Looks great :top:
Only downsize is having to choose "family safe" every time I upload, but it's fantastic to have links to kill images directly like on BayImg.
Only downsize is having to choose "family safe" every time I upload,
I just remembered it is the favorite picture hoster for porn uploaders in some forums and trackers. That might be related. :lol:

Just make a quick greasemonkey for it? It's not that hard.
// ==UserScript==
// @name ImageBam Auto FAMILY Type
// @description Auto set the content type to FAMILY
// @include http://www.imagebam.com/
// ==/UserScript==
document.getElementById("content_type").value = 0;
Thanks, but either I'm doing something wrong or it doesn't work with Opera. Since I know how to use user scripts and was able to install a few correctly, it's probably the latter. I can't believe a one-line thing doesn't work as it should :dabs:
Works just fine in firefox.
I'm guessing it's being executed before the page finishes loading rather than after, the script is obviously stupidly simple so not much can go wrong.
Try something like this:
function init() {
document.getElementById("content_type").value = 0;
}
window.onload = init;
edit: greasemonkey seems to have trouble with the above (srry shldve tested first), the following DOES work for me:
window.addEventListener(
'load',
function() {
setTimeout(
function () {
document.getElementById("content_type").value = 0;
},
10);
},
false
);
I had to remove the "@include" line since I'm using the basic uploaded (located at /basic-upload), but guess what, that one worked. Thanks :top:
You're welcome ^^
I had to remove the "@include" line
Do you mean remove or change? Seems weird to remove the location where it should be executed.
Remove. Seems that when that line is not present, Opera applies the script for all pages on the domain.
I would've guessed it applied the script to all pages visited, not just imagebam.
But hey if it works and you're happy, that's good enough for me :)
In Opera you can't set a script to be used on every site you visit, it must be done on a per-domain basis.
