[FONT="Verdana"]This tip happens to be my favorite Firefox and uTorrent tip/tool.

First : Multiple Firefox instances:

Ever wanted to run more than one instance of Firefox? At the same time? It’s quite simple, really!

With it, you can run many instances of Firefox with different Profiles.

The benefits:

We all aware that some trackers have been banning SB-Innovation users because of CSS History Leak.

Important Security Warning (http://www.sb-innovation.de/announcement.php?f=56)

Now you will be able to browse SB-Innovation without the need to change your lovely Firefox browser using this tip you will enjoy different history for each profile you create and hence it is the same as changing your browser.

In addition to that you can test new extensions and themes in a new Profile before incorporating them into your default Firefox Profile, and other uses which you’ll discover as you use this tip.

How to do it?

1- On Windows click Start > Run then:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -no-remote -ProfileManager

Then create a new profile. If you want to make a copy of your existing profile, simply create the new profile, then copy the current profile directory to the new profile directory.

PS:copying the old user directory to the new one will copy all extensions , themes and even history but don't worry you can delete history in the new user using the default way and enjoy your new user with completely different history and your default extensions.

You can find user directory in:
C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

2-
First, Open Notepad and paste in the following:
@echo off
set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1
start "" "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p
set MOZ_NO_REMOTE=0

Second,Save the File:

Save the file with any name that you wish, and in any location,
but you’ll be saving it as a .bat.
If you don’t like the look of the icon, simply place the file in a
folder, create a shortcut to it on your desktop, and then, change
the icon as usual.

If you don't know how to save the file with .bat you can download this small program (http://www.4shared.com/file/32126075/e33629ee/extchanger.html?dirPwdVerified=ad33202a) , right click on the file , choose edit the extension , write bat , click change and you are good to go.

Finally , delete your default Firefox shortcut and open the .dat file or better create a shortcut to it on desktop and then double click :

Choose the profile you want and click start Firefox.

You can create any number of profiles as you want and open them simultaneously.

Second : Multiple µTorrent instances:

In this tutorial, i will show you how to run multiple instances of µTorrent on the same computer , but before i start showing you how to do it i will shed some light on why you need to run multiple µTorrent instances.

The benefits:

Ever wanted to download a torrent with your original µTorrent and in the same time download another torrent from a different tracker using a modded client.
Well with this tip you will be able to do that.

You can also run different versions of µTorrent on the same computer simultaneously

How to do it?

STEP 1 :

Copy modded or original µTorrent client to a new folder , Don't run or install it , just copy it ( rename the folder to the name of the modded , original client
to know what you will be running).

STEP 2. - The Shortcut:

Go into your new folder, (i.e. -> C:\uTorrent , uTorrent -NoReport ...whatever the name you gave to the folder) and right-click on "uTorrent.exe", and select "Create Shortcut". Now, on the new shortcut, right-click and select "Properties". Where it says "Target", enter /RECOVER to the end of the path (outside of the quotes, if applicable).

STEP 3. - The "Settings.dat" file :

CREATE A NEW ONE: (In the same folder as your new "Shortcut to uTorrent.exe" - i.e. "C:\uTorrent"). If you don’t particularly care about how you originally set up µTorrent, or, if you want to use the default factory settings, simply create a new text file, and rename it to "settings.dat" you’ll be saving it as a .dat.

If you don't know how to save the file with .dat you can download this small program (http://www.4shared.com/file/32126075/e33629ee/extchanger.html?dirPwdVerified=ad33202a) , right click on the file , choose edit the extension , write dat , click change and you are good to go.

USE EXISTING ONE: If you prefer to use your old µTorrent settings, you can import them from your existing ’settings.dat’ file. To find the folder where it is located, click "Run" from your Start Menu, and type in %AppData%\uTorrent as shown below.

http://i41.tinypic.com/2ep4irt.jpg

Once located, "copy" the settings.dat file, and "paste" it into your new folder at C:\uTorrent. If preferred, you can also copy/paste any other *.dat files (dht.dat, rss.dat, resume.dat) etc.

Note that copying the old settings.dat , you will be using the same port so you better change it :

Under uTorrent instance :
Options>Preferences>Connection and then change the number of the port.

After you have created or ‘pasted’ the settings.dat file, you will now be able to run µTorrent instance from the shortcut, and it will launch as a separate instance of µTorrent .

Warning: after you do that you will need to add torrents manually to avoid opening in a modded or a uTorrent version you don't want this torrent to run into.

I've used many articles to make this tutorial and edited them by adding my own experience. :top:

Right, we already had a tutorial about multiple uTorrent instances. Thank you for the Firefox procedure, though.

Given the fact several sections look like taken directly from Mihai's links, I strongly suggest you credit the authors as per rule 5. Using the QUOTE tag is not necessary in this case.

If you are on x64, you may need to change the path to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
and also the -p to -profilemanager.
You can also make a shortcut to Firefox and add -profilemanager after the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
so in the end for x64 it will look like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -profilemanager
in the target field.

Actually when you create new firefox profiles the old bookmarks, saved passwords, addons don't get duplicated into the new profiles...

In case you don't want to install all the addons and what not all over again, you use this add on - https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/9452/

It can duplicate profiles and what not...

I used it to duplicate profiles and now have two firefox versions running at the same time...

Without much hassle...

How about it eh?

If you have a custom toolbar/menu/status bar setup you're very used to, your solution is probably the best... but don't confuse instances and end up visiting SB-I from the one you've used for What.cd! It'll end in tears.

Actually when you create new firefox profiles the old bookmarks, saved passwords, addons don't get duplicated into the new profiles...

Copy your main profile files then paste them in the new profile directory and you'll have all your addons installed in the new profile, Don't forget to clear history in the new profile.

Yup, I had read about copy pasting in a tutorial long time ago...

But as anon said, you'll lose all your customizations and your logins/passwords(meaning you'll have to enter them all over again)...

But its all good though...thanks for the tutorial...

No, you don't have to, just accept the replacement of new files over the old ones and don't clear history and it's the same as the main profile.

Where did I say that? (I can't find the post here, perhaps it was on other thread)
