it had worked for me very useful information.

How to run multiple instances of vuze.

how i did it.

1.first i installed vem

2.i copied the config path from applicationdata to the desired location.remember u must copy config path not the patch in program files.

3. next i had passed parameters.

-J-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true -J-Dazureus.config.path="desired location"

this can be done by right clicking going to properties in vuze and and giving this in shortcut after azureus.exe

4.i had downloaded single exe version

in single exe folder find azureus.l4j.ini

5.edit with note pad lke this:

-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true
-Dazureus.config.path="single execute folder\"desired location"
-Dazureus.install.path=.

thats all and a happy running of 2 instances of vuze.

great.

everything is right but i have a small problem when i am opening single exe version after saving the settings it is not saving them i have to save them again and again when i am starting?

i am getting error plugin bootstrap initialisation error

working well when i install 2 versions of vuze.

when i try with one installed version and 1 single exe file i am getting error bootstrap initialisation error

Thanks!

I guess you have to stick to the JAR versions, then.

I'll check that when I get home.

I wanted to try this but I don't understand you, jacksbi, and I am afraid to make mistakes that will ruin my configuration or whatever.

Is this what I have to do? :

1. Install regular Vuze.
2. Copy "Azureus" configuration folder from "Application Data" folder or "AppData" in Windows 7 to a new location of your choice.
3. create a shortcut to the installed Vuze "Azureus.exe" and in properties add
-J-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true -J-Dazureus.config.path="new location"
4. Download and extract a single exe version.
5. This step is unclear. In the single exe folder find "azureus.l4j.ini", edit it and write:

-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true
-Dazureus.config.path= what goes here? Single exe path or the new location path?
-Dazureus.install.path=.

few questions..

what are the executables you're running? are they:
a. the shortcut we've added parameters to.
b. the single exe version.

so what we're doing is opening a shortcut that points to a new configuration folder and opening the single exe that opens WHICH configuration?

also, can this run with 2 single exe versions?

The path to the new config folder you copied in step 2.

The one set in the azureus.config.path parameter.

Stuff

I am running 3 different versions of vuze at a time mate.

i had installed 3 of them on different disks

ignore from 4th step mate as single exe version had not worked for me also.

repeat again same as steps 1 to 3 so that u can run it.

its very easy.

I tried this, but even if I wrote that in properties it still loads from appdata\roaming.

Are you using a single EXE version of Azureus, or the JAR?

Grambo

Since he said that the Single.exe isn't working. I tried the JAR.

They take parameters differently

Instead of adding command-line parameters to the shortcut, try this: create an empty file called Azureus.exe.vmoptions, type this inside it:

-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true
-Dazureus.config.path="S:\VEM\config"
-Dazureus.install.path=.
(Replacing "S:\VEM\config" with the actual path to the config folder, of course)

Save it, and try to run Azureus.

When I try to launch both one process just deletes itself.

I did exactly what you said. They load their config correctly, But still they only work one at the time.

Shouldn't it be possible to run both at the same time?

I don't like to double post, but I can't edit.

okay so I tried this and it's working:
1 installed version which will be my second instance and 1 single exe version which will still be my regular client.
settings are saved on both clients and when different ports assigned they are both connectable and downloading like they should.
no warnings no shit.

note: I'm on Windows 7 x64

Grambo I want you to try this.
1. backup your settings in AppData\Roaming\Azureus.
2. create a folder in AppData\Roaming\Azureus called "Vuze SI" (for second instance = SI).
3. copy the entire Azureus folder inside AppData\Roaming to the "Vuze SI" folder.
4. delete everything in AppData\Roaming\Azureus except for the "Vuze SI" folder.
5. delete the Vuze folder in Program Files.
6. install a clean Vuze.
7. create a shortcut to the regular install exe, instead of what's in target, change to this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Vuze\Azureus.exe" -J-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true -J-Dazureus.config.path="C:\Users\**your username here**\AppData\Roaming\Azureus"
so now we have 1 isntance of azureus ready for action.

8. create a new folder inside Vuze in Program Files and call it.. yes exactly, "Vuze SI".
9. extract there the single exe version of VEM.
10. open the Azureus.l4j.ini and type:

-DMULTI_INSTANCE=true
-Dazureus.config.path="C:\Users\**your username here**\AppData\Roaming\Azureus\Vuze SI\Azureus"
-Dazureus.install.path=.
so this is the second instance.

the 2 instances that you run are:
the shortcut you created to the INSTALL exe.
the Azureus.exe inside Program Files (x86)\Vuze\Vuze SI

:top:

grambo is it working or should i help u with something i am running 4 instances of vuze now.

Good news!

I finally got it working.
It was a spelling error I didn't see.

I'm running 2 now.
The thing is that the second instance is sometimes complaining about not beeing able to establist a listen port #59000something.
And it's FWed.

It was green when I downloaded 2 torrents, but now when I'm only seeding it's always FWed.
That could be because it has almost no activity.

Both instances are using different ports, right?

If so, it's probably the activity thing, as you mentioned.

Grambo
07.08.10, 23:38
Yeah, they are.
I'm using the ports given by my VPN provider.

I can't change what the listen port is.
It's not in the options afaik

I got the listen port error too when I didn't set 2 different TCP and UDP ports for each instance (aka in the first run of both instances before I changed ports).

Options -> Connection?

Grambo

That's just the ports for up, downloading and tracker communication.
The listen port is something different and that can't be changed. I don't know what it's for, but still sometimes I get that error msg when running two instances.

Nope, I'm really sure those are the listen ports. It says so on the Azureus Wiki.

Grambo
08.08.10, 00:01
The error is:
Failed to establish listen port on port 59000something. Check if another instance of Vuze is running.

Which is the fact.
Something else that's strange is that a third instance launches automatically. That's when the error occurs.

Grambo did you try my configuration?

Grambo
09.08.10, 00:22
Yes I did. I have always used dfferent TCP and UDP ports in Vuze.
I did that in both instances.

I found the problem with the listen port.
It seems thastone instance won't shut down properly when xlickind the X in the corner.
It just made the GUI go away and left the process behind.
So when I started another instance from that same folder it was 2 running with the same config file. That was probably the reason.
After I found that out I haven't had that problem.

It is lack off up-/download which makes it firewalled. As soon as there is some activity the icon changes from red to green.

I've come across a new problem when trying to run two of the later releases.
When I try to change the options they will not last over a restart on the 2nd instance.

Managed to successfully run 2 at once.
Just had to remove the "" from the path.
