You'll need a usb pen drive (2gb minimum),
Software:
"HPUSBFW" to format it and make it bootable,
"unetbootin-windows-377" - loads iso - or "WinSetupFromUSB_0-2-3" - loads dvd - to move the OS to the pen drive.
Go to bios and make the usb pen drive your 1st boot device.

I have always wondered something: my BIOS doesn't support booting from a flashdrive, and I'm not a big fan of flashing it with hacked ones. Is there anything I can do?
Perhaps you can try an external CD/DVD Drive?
Yes, but I want to boot from an USB drive.

I think not, if you're board is old enought not to support booting from a usb drive there's nothing you can do.
Don't forget usb drive has to be plugged in prior going to bios in order to be detected.
@Nickname Why spending money on external drive, when you can do it for free?
He or a friend may already have one
Yes, I have an external CD drive
I just wanted to know if I could boot from my flashdrive to test those portable XPs.
Maybe an official Bios Update if there's one available can help.
I have the latest version. It's been years my BIOS doesn't have an update ^^ I think my motherboard is already discontinued.
