Me,No.
Windows XP is enough to me,not only its running speed but also its features.

Installing a new OS means I should put all my files into portable hard disk...Then put them back...

If MyCockSoft can provide some patches which can let XP/Vista users update to Win7 directly ,maybe I will try the new OS.

you can use a dualboot-system

you can use a dualboot-system

that's definitely an option :top: but i personally have system disk partitioned in a way one os is optimum, couldn't bring myself to repartition it for debian, let alone win7 :)

I am using Win 7 RTM since more than a month. I think it's the best and most stable windows yet. I have converted three of my friends from XP to 7 already. In a gist, Win 7 is fantastic. I have the 64 bit version, and majority of 32 bit softwares work perfect on it. I have Nod32 2.7, ACDSee 3.1 (2001 edition), all working fine, apart from other softwares, and may common softwares already have a 64 bit version. I dont think I will be using XP again, though it is too early to say. Will buy win 7 after official launch

well you can say that win 7 is vista SP3
the improvement in the way win 7 utilizes the resources is a step forward from vista

I chucked Windows 7 on a 5 year old laptop. It runs just as fast as it did with Windows XP, and I didn't have to search for a single driver to make it work.

Very pleased.

You should also try tiny7 (http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5074537/Windows_Tiny7_Rev01_Unattended_Activated_CD).

My laptop doesn't have XP drivers so I had to either go with Vista or Win7. I picked 7 of course and it's awesome so far.

Windows 7 it's not much better than vista. You need a good PC to work properly on it. Seven take 50% of my intel core2duo 6750 cpu when i just launch IE.

I am already posting from Windows 7. Its wonderful. I dual boot with windows xp. If anything goes wrong i can fix using xp and there has not been any need for that so far.

I agree with you on the video processing much better codec support in Windows media player!

you don't even need to install codecs to watch mkv's in WMP..I'm still on Vista but my sisters laptop came with Windows 7 so thats how I know:smile:

speed improvements can have countless reasons. why do you think it's because of win7?

wmp is hardly a factor for rating a whole os. even more so when there're much better media players out there.

Its one of the best OS MS has ever released

and why is that?

I'm on it right now, have been for a few months. If you had performance issues on Vista, chances are you will on 7 aswell. It's more or less Windows Vista SP3.

Windows 7 is faster than Vista for gaming. BUT only with some games that are specially made for Win 7 for instance Dragon Age Origins was made with Win 7 and the new direct X in mind but it probably wont matter too much with WoW except if Vista was doing too much in the background.

Basically because im using the exact same hardware but where available, 64bit versions of software. I have the same software setup on windows 7 as I had with Vista.

Another note, when hashing large numbers of files in eMule SBI its much faster with the same emule setting.

Thanks Butcho for a wonderful app :top::klatsch_3:

Of course with Windows 7. This faster and more stable version of Windows give me no cause to change back or reminisce of old Vista days, nor will I think about going back to xp,

Hope i was clearer this time ;)

I have been using win7 for a while now, and I must admit that MS did a great job with it. If you turn off some of the stuff they only changed for the sake of change, it's more user friendly than any other before. Not to mention that first time I bought my laptop, took me 1 or 2 weeks to get my audiocard working, I had troubles with my videocard as well, and I had to download drivers for all hardware in it: cardreader-webcam-touchpad..and so on. Yep, this was on XP. First I installed Vista, used it for a year, but as it gave me so much better experience than XP, I decided to go on and freshen up a bit: Win 7 install.

Not just it was a so smart and fast install, but it recognized my wlan card by the time I first saw the desktop. :) I just needed to type in my router's passkey, and it worked. Win update turned on, all neccessary stuff installed like a charm, installed Kaspersky IS, office, adobe creative suite, winamp, vlc, winrar and chrome... all set.

It searched and installed all my hardwares' drivers, and they still work great! All in all, I suggest everyone to try it! ;)
