Microsoft has taken the wraps off of its successor to the soon to be discontinued Windows Live OneCare, announcing today that Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), a free to download "superset" of Windows Defender will become available on June 23.

I have read a review, and it comes bundled with Microsoft "SpyNet", which collects info about infections and potential threats to help improve the program. You can't opt-out of it - but only have two choices, "basic membership" and an advanced one. The name is already scary. :eek13:
There's no setting to ask the user what to do when an infected file is found. It needs to validate your Windows before being installed.
