Verned is very good for streaming music; I've used it before, but I much prefer to download albums, and listen to them rather than single songs - for that I use Warez-BB, which is a massive communty but most stuff is ULed to RapidShare.

Sometimes I use Limewire when I can not find some songs in private trackers.

Also I recommend you to try spotify just for streaming music!!

Rapidshare-Search-Engine (which can also search inside Warez boards) + Rapidshare Plus
eMule (somewhat slow)

Is also a good idea.

As for me, there are some time, when I download from IRC. There are many IRC search engines.
Earlier, I used to use DCC+, since the onset of torrents, haven't used. Torrents should satisfy most of the music need.
For single files, earlier used Limewire Pro, but avoid it now coz of viruses.

Another good one is Playlist.com (http://www.playlist.com/), not a "real" download site but you can listen to a big music archive for free, all you need is a free account.

Replay Media Catcher is a similar program that can also save streaming videos - useful for sites like Hulu, for example.

No idea about Last.fm, but there's an "Spotify Ripper" out there.

Well, I have to agree with splicer on that What.cd is the "McDaddy" (did I spell it right?) of music trackers. The content and speeds are great. But some trackers with lossless content include Lossless.com.ua, Lossless Club, Lossless Legs, and the new SceneSound, apart from of course BTMusic and E****, which can be hard to get in.

Other than the torrent trackers, Limewire pro and Emule, and of course the linking sites like bestmusic.lt, and sharedmusic.net - just google what you want, and browse for DL links  Google translate made every site useful.

Alas, there are more and more sites of just spam keywords/ads, so the "index of" ftp search method got less useful...

What about Google Images? Search an album's name and you'll eventually arrive to a blog offering it.

I use Limewire, and if I can't find it there I use Youtube with a downloader that only downloads the audio. You can really find rare things on youtube.

Can you trust sites that download just offer downloads on their site? I always found that suspicious.

I use sites like ImFlashy, Hotnewhiphop, rnbxclusive, the305 etc all host mp3 on rapidshare, zshare, mediafire keitex is also a very good source for both scene and non scene HQ music videos. Music is everywhere really, depends on your taste that will lead to where you get what you want.

SoulSeek is a nice for such content. And due to its relatively userbase, it's not a target for the RIAA or MD yet.

Most of the time I use SkreemR (Search) (http://skreemr.com/)

One last thing I forgot, Internet Download Manager enables me to capture streaming videos and music and its very useful on filehosting sites or on sites that has a default music player. You just click your way through

If theres a song that I NEED and I mean NEEEEED that I can't find on a tracker, I turn to Frostwire. I tend to stick to trackers though...

I also love to use XDCC :D I've found some great stuff via there. KDX. KDX is amazing. I'm in a nice KDX server that has tons of music... It's sweet.

Have you tried Ares? It's good for separate tracks. The Gnutella network is full of malware, bogus/empty files, etc. :frown:

You may want to use the unofficial version:
http://www.peerevolution.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8010 (site seems to be down at the moment, check back later)

It shows other's IPs. If a file has 500+ sources but they're all from the same subnet = fake.

If you need a nodeset to connect to the network faster, just tell me.
