Elite members will receive one invite, which will grant the invitee full privileges

You mean the invitee will automaticly be promoted to member class right?

I think Invite system was good ! so we invite only trusted person whom we know very well.

Invite system is great, but i think people who invite other should take responsibility for his invites, if he invite some who take out SB-I mods and post them on other site there's should be ban for both.

Kindly leave the layer ad open for a few seconds, and click it every now and then. That helps pay our server bills.

so any links for donate to sbi ?

We had one, but it was removed because no one donated.

Normaly the layer should come once a time in 3 hours. Please wait 10 seconds (3 seconds should be enough, test it) before you're closing the layer and try again.

I've tested it with the internet explorer and i have no problem.

Donating is possible for sure, contact any staff member or use this direct link: http://www.sb-innovation.de/misc.php?do=donate But i don't think that every user will donate in the nearly future.

interesting, i don't get any advertisements whatsoever (no blocking software active btw)

but when trying to enter this site today it wasn't responding for quite a while, i wonder what that was all about - too many people registering?

also the chat room is empty (hint: from yesterday), any info on that?

[/COLOR]ok ..So ReGistrations are Opened again....well Thats Good we Will be seeing New members , but Invite System was better Than This.

Bcoz atleast we knew whom we invited but as Czullo Said Then we Would be held responsible for That...And i cant survive after a ban from Sb-i..

Anyways, the Registrations Must be Opened Periodically For a Short Interval of time.:klatsch_3:

About ads , its not annoying at all...if its helping Sb-i Server costs then no Problem at all....:top:

I don't entirely agree that new members will need 10 posts to see other boards and sub-boards. In my personal opinion, I kind of question whether this would be too small of a required amount.
But it's your guy's choice, though.

Rebound
09.06.09, 12:38
You haven't understand the 10 post thing correctly. All members before reopening the reg were degraded and have atm no chance to promote to the full member status. All members which register new haven't the full access to, that's not post relevant. A new member can write 200 posts in one week, he haven't access.

SealLion
09.06.09, 13:48
so, I still don't understand then where the 10 post count thing comes in then.

A new member can have as many posts as he wants, but where exactly does the 10 posts count come in,then??

Or are you just saying that current pple with 10 posts have as equally as limited access as currently newly registered members??

i was talking in the old feedback thread that we used a lot of suggestions from there. well we used a lot of ideas and combined them, sure its not easy to reognise them and a few things in the latest announcement looks strange especially that we opened again but its all there.

as an example there is the part that we will promote new registred at some point to members, that could be combined for example with the last suggestions that SealLion was talking in the old thread with involving a special group of members for example

SealLion
10.06.09, 06:10
NOw that you recalled my last post, Hitman. I've got to mention something here that I forgot in my last post re: selection committe.

I wanted to add, but forgot to, that should there be a regular userbase here that participates in a selection process for new members, I personnally think that it would be wise to have the selcetion committee be split into groups.

let's say, 3-4 groups of 3 or 4 persons in each group.

This way, it splits up the work amongst the selection groups.
There also won't be too much disagreement amongst selection committee members.
There'll be better communication within a smaller group.
There'll also be faster decisioins made amongst a smaller group or 3-4 persons each.

Each selection team will be handed a weekly roster of new person's.

YOu guy's will also need to consider, should you go ahead with such an idea, of how your going to select each committee member who sits on what-ever committee team.

Be it on committee team #1. #2, #3....and so on and so on....

based on merit, participation, longevity, or what-ever....you guys will decide.

As time goes by and as attrition accrues, new team members can join the committee groups.

I have lots of good ideas, don't I?? :)

The basis I would hope would be on user behaviour.

Is he a spammer??

Does he have behavioral problems on the board??

does he have habits of scamming others here??
etc..etc....basically, what that member's behaviours are while he/ she is on the board here.

Nobody matching one of those descriptions will last long here. Rebound has said it himself - you could spam as much as you want (not that we'll let you, anyway), and still not be promoted. It's quality, not quantity, that matters. :top:

No, new registered users don't even need to read the 10 post thing as it doesn't apply to them.

wEll, I would say that the strategy of having closed and then re-opened does and may work.

S***14 and other nasty boys like him will have to post in order eventually aquire what he's looking for. Though that's not going to stop him from running over to other mod author's site.
Though, that's probably thier problem to deal with.

Yes. I know...that he'll have to post in order to get the newly modded mods made by SBI people.

Though, don't you wonder that he may even slip by you without you being even aware of it ( i.e. having been promoted)??
What if he does??

And yes. I know this was all discussed in the other feedback thread about having the closed registrations.

I mean, i didn't even know that this was closed registration board, found you only few days ago following a link from nrpg rm forum so i recon that its a privilege that i managed to write this great 11 posts of mine. Anyway you got point in one thing and that is: there is much more quality among posts in a closed group of people and quality degrades with masses ie. more members. I wouldnt know about stealing your releases and posting it elsewhere and all that elitism scheme.

But why the hell did you open registrations to this great board if i cant send PMs or download your great software. This is pure torture. And it greatly reduces my initiative for contributing it on any aspect.

think about it this way: i bet most tracker staff wouldn't appreciate such rants and you would find yourself outside almost instantly

the rules about user status should be quite clear by now

many mods are still available so whats the big deal?

Calm youselves; sooner or later you will get member status. You have to understand that this is a necesary process, to weed out leakers, and for now it has actually worked, as He Who Shall Not Be Named, But Begins With "S", has not had any mods which require memeber status posted to his site.

Imagine if you spent all day working at a computer, staring at the screen, looking at all bits of code, trying to find the bug, that's stopping your project from working. Then you fix it; it works! Hoorah, something good to share with the community. And then having your work stolen, and claimed by someone else as there own. I wouldn't wan that with my work. And I'm fairly sure you wouldn't either (if the opposite is the case, please reply with reasoning). Hence this member system, no matter how unfair it may seem, has to be in place.

To be honest you are lucky to get in when you wanted to; classyboy had to wait several weeks to be able to make an account - I know because I was talking to him over at NRPG forums. You have to work for member status, and in the end it will be worth it; as you said you have found some of classyboy's posts useful, so try to achieve the same with people who have just joined up. If you think you can provide no help to others, you will; you've only been here a week, and you shouldn't expect to know everything by now. Read new posts and learn, so when someone else joins up, you can be their classyboy.

There are other sections to SB-I as well; lots which ask for your opinions, such as discussion splits (the last one was about animal and rape porn, but they aren't alway like that:wink2:), as well as tracker reviews, and you can always post in topics which even the most basic of info could be helpful, such as where to find a movie.

I not use public torrents, so is no use to me. As is, I stuck with old Vuze mod and new utorrent mod which not usable everywhere. It feel like I being judged here, as in I not make enough "good post" to be full member. I understand necessity due to seba, but do not like feel inferior. That very unnecessary.

I probably have to get mods from seba in interim. Hope to not get banned. That is best case for me.

This is not so, Black Orchid. Dont get all wrong, buddy.

First, this is one of the best forums (of any kind), no doubt. The amount of help you can get here for your problems, is fantastic, and within no time. For example, just post your problems, and see, how many people will reply to it within no time. Compare this with any other type of forum you know and you will understand.

Second, the mods and admins are amazing, and extremely helpful. They are NOT AT ALL treating anyone poorly. But understand their situation also. Just because they were open to all, some other people were taking advantage, and stealing things from here and posting elsewhere and taking credit. So naturally, that was not correct. If they have made things a little strict, it is for the benefit of the forum. I appreciate their decision of making only good users as members, so the quality remains. We have to show our helpfulness, and give our contribution, and with time, one day, we may also become members. It's just a matter of wait. It's not that the mods here dont want new members. It's only that they want people who are trusted, and who will contribute. So the wait for being a member is justified.

Third, the collegiality on this forum is also awesome. A large number of members are active and give their inputs on various subjects. I have enjoying on this forum, not for the mods, but because of the wonderful friends, making new friends, knowing each other, sharing stuff and methods and trying my best to help others.

It will be a privilege to be a part of this forum. We have to show our willingness to do, and wait. I am sure we will be rewarded later. Patience.

New people, most especially after someone was banned here, even in textual disguise, raise one's eyebrows a notch or 2.
Especially mine.
Always did.

you say the following:

1. that you feel that your not treated fairly.

2. You also say that you'd leave.

That's what some guy, a.k.a. Fingertip (Banned before) also said after he changed his IP to get in again the second time a.k.a. Stickbutt (banned afterwards).

He had this outer-wordly fantasy that what he believed through his poisounous tantrums would have more weight than that of some leprous desert rat, that spun rabidly in this never-ending circle, waiting for the bite of some venomous snake.

People with his attitude, which your also beginning to display, are ridiculous and obnoxious.

I not understand what you speak of here. All I want is fair treatment before have to see whether this community appropriate for me. That all. Even you, a moderator, are now on my back. Can you see why I take my stance? Fairness would be nice, not personal attacks.

I try been helpful member since arrival, participate in thread, even asked own question in thread.
Why all this then? Why do people feel need to criticize? Why do you, representative of site official, tell me to go? That is not way to run site. That not way to have effective, decent community.

How I ridiculour? How I obnoxious? How is have opinion and participate bad thing now? Do I just sit still, be quiet? What expected of member here? What must I do to not be accused of being this finger person? YTou not even ask. You take immediate strident stance and make accusation. I simply poiont out my feeling. This no disguise. Sorry my english too poor for you whatever.

Someone tell me how I am bad person. Be fair, be polite. No accusation. Just simple tell. If I agree, then I go if told to. Otherwise least try get along with me. No immediate accusation, no immediate unfair treatment. If all are to be equal, then why I treated like petulant child when all I ask for i equalness?

After think for minute, it make me upset that must drag out this war in public forum. Is disruptive. Is counterproductive. You need know this thing as mod. Act your part, please. Without fact, accusation is just in your head. No fact to be found. I just guy who want be member and be accepted. Am neither now. If had PM access we could continue this there. Instead, I not continue at all. No comment more from me. Would just add to ignoer list but you mod I cant.

Don't worry about user title positions.

They never did to the other guy anyways.

Actually, they shouldn't mean anything to you anyways when wanting to express your opinions.

Besides. I'm the same person today as I was yester-year.

Though your absolutely right about one thing, accusations are in one's head without strident proof.
Opinions are another matter, yes??

If you want some apology for this accusation thing, I'll give it to you.
I"m not shy to state things in public....never have been anyways.

Sorry for accusing you, though my opinions won't shake things in some other direction.

If you can't have patience to wait for what waits on the other side, then I don't know what to say then other than to repeat what other's have already said.

And when you say that pple are on your back, including me as well, that doesn't surprise me haveing read that.

The banned guy also felt that same way anytime someone was trying to reason with him (of a few things for that matter).

And as for telling you to go.
That was incorrectly read by you.
I said that if you can't have patience, then there's always the front door.
That's what I stated.

Also, having an opinion is never a bad thing.
Being demanding, like yourself with this 'wanting to be member'-thing ( so as to download material) is being demanding in itself.

So if you can't have patience, there's always Walmart. They sell it for 10.00 bucks a bag.

I've said my piece.
I'm outta here.

Just a few words from me:

As stated before...the closing, opening of this forum and the rule changes was made to protect SB-I.

This forum is a home for many of us. (Cheaters and Non-cheaters alike)

I believe as a whole we want to protect and set up rules to help protect our home.

Given that if anyone wants to be a member of this fine forum than we would love to have you.

Be respectful, contribute, and hang around so we get to know you and in no time you will be recognize as a contributing member.

Anyone can come as a guess to download mods, if you want to be a regular member than act like one.

I understand that it is kind of sucks that anyone cannot just join now and be a member. If you want to be one just put in the time as many have said before.

You are not missing out on much as a non-member trust me. I am using all public mods.

Think of this as a community where if you enjoy it than stay a while, we would love to have you...if not than just DL the mods you want and leave...we all have choices.

I understand you are free to discuss your point of view which is why this board is so good. We are all entitled to speak as we wish, there should be debates and not attacks which the mods have been very good at enforcing.

I like the changes not because I am a member but because it keeps us safer and that is the truth for me.

I hope you enjoy your stay as many have.

So im unlucky kind of. if the guy with last post on previous page with postcount of 50 still didnt got promoted (and he seems really ok, some of his posts were really useful to me) how could i hope to become THE MEMBER of this board. Should i just make peace with the fact?

/rant over

and out.

-_-

maybe your interpretation is wrong like Black Orchid. and why you cant download our software? this sounds like everything from us is restricted

the biggest problem is still the lack of patience

shadowww

think about it this way: i bet most tracker staff wouldn't appreciate such rants and you would find yourself outside almost instantly
My rant was nothing else then expressing my feelings and opinions. I didn't demand anything from anyone and i still don't expect to change a thing.

the rules about user status should be quite clear by now
rules? "the user gets promoted to member status when this board staff feels its the right time" is not the rule. It is subjective opinion, totally opposite thing from the concept of "rule"

many mods are still available so whats the big deal?
Aye, thats one thing that is easy to say when you are granted full access.. i bet you didnt think that way back when you wasnt full member.

Well put. I must admit that when i first came to this board i didnt realise that i came to one SOURCE of coders dedicated to developing p2p hacks. When you do random search about this theme, not knowing anything about it, its hard to distinguish the original work from shameless copy. I also didn't have any idea that there is such a big problem about copying coder's work and claiming it by other persons though i'm still frustrated because "normal" users who don't have any intent of using mods/tools for any other purpose then by/for themselfs gets punished in a way... because of few bad people.

Quoted for the truth.
I was pretty much suprised when i started some kind of rant because of very few ratio faking mods for linux back in Transmission mod topic and what i got was quality responses from both members and moderator (anon.. that guy is just OMNIPRESENT :top:) in a very quick manner. Quality of this board really suprised me and thats the only reason why i bother with writing this post and why will i strive to become a full member (btw. this is only board on witch i write so long posts in english so you must forgive me for lack of sense for expressing things how i see them.. 90% of what i write via internet is on croatian language).

Also im suprised how much "heat" i caused in this thread but i must confirm that i completely agree on statements made by splicer and classyboy, and that they opened my eyes in a way. I actually knew all that already, but i got some wierd personality i think.. witch made me to make post in this thread in a first place.
Must be coz that thing witch bothers me in a way: because of few now I (and all other non members) must prove myself somehow to you, convincing you that i'm not one of "them", that ill not steal work and so on....

So that would be it.. i would just want to suggest one thing for an end of this post.. and that would be that you promote classyboy to full member, i think that we could all agree that he deserves it. I also think that while browsing this forom i found members with even much less number of posts become already a member. So that would be kind of gesture that we (wannabeMembers-staff relation) understand each others.

cheers

we know that its not possible to make everybody happy but in our situation we cant sit back and do nothing we have to pay every moth the bill for the server and annual licences. in the past everythig was downloadable for everybody but we had to much abuse and at one point you cant continue.

well you need to view the time before and after the reg was open. we decided that after the reg is open every new user will not have the member title, sure people that had before we opened the reg 10 posts had luck because everybody below 10 posts was also demoted to non member title.

anyway its good that you have now an overview of the situation its an important step

and btw. everybody is free to give his own opinion dont think that we dont want to discuss but the discussion should stay clean and both parties should be understood

Yes, it is kind of subjective.
But it's not that if you're a good user but for example I don't like you for some reason (which is not the case to be honest) you're not promoted.
It's more that we have no script running which promotes users with, let's say, 50 posts and 30 days of memberships automatically to Members. :wink2:

anon

Aye, thats one thing that is easy to say when you are granted full access.. i bet you didnt think that way back when you wasnt full member.

slikrapid has always been a full member. Check hitman's post and the announcement - people that had more than 10 posts when we implemented the Member system were automatically promoted. Those with less than 10 posts weren't. Newly registered users also aren't Members. It may be unfair but it's working so far.

You said that logically enough, as our mods have always been hacked to remove our name from them, you didn't know we were the leecher mods source. I fully understand this.

But we aren't punishing users. We have given everyone the opportunity to discuss what to do regarding mod theft for months (check the hot iron thread, and most recently, "feedback for changes"). We decided that this was better than an invite-only system, or even worse, fully closing the board. One of the reasons was that, unlike you said in one of your posts, we think that by closing down, quality will slowly but surely degrade - our members have real lives, which means they may not always have the opportunity to post as much or even at all. By keeping registrations open, people with different points of view (just like you! I'm not trying to bash you. It's actually great that we're having this discussion) can always join, and most important:

If they really care about our situation and want the Members-only mods, they'll contribute to us. Like splicer said, this doesn't have to mean you must be pressing F5 every 10 seconds to instantly jump on new posts and reply as fast as possible. You can help in many ways:

replying to threads on the Inquire Around section
posting trackers open for signup
posting news, articles, programs or services you've found useful
writing tutorials
giving cheating tips to others
testing new mods or tricks on trackers
even posting funny pics or videos

There's more than one way to contribute, and we appreciate anything. Bear in mind it doesn't matter if someone has already replied. If you have an experience or tip you can help with, it's OK to post it!

Also remember

It's more that we have no script running which promotes users with, let's say, 50 posts and 30 days of memberships automatically to Members. :wink2:

We're not looking for people that have 1000 posts or are only 20 hours a day. You mentioned that the quality of this board impressed you. You can help make it even better. :top:

Must be coz that thing witch bothers me in a way: because of few now I (and all other non members) must prove myself somehow to you, convincing you that i'm not one of "them", that ill not steal work and so on....

where are the disadvantages for read only users? they still get everything, 95% at the same time like everybody and a small percentage after a centain time.

you are talking about disadavantage for read only users but should our active members not be rewarded to hold the community alive?

our forum doesnt live only from bannercash, there need to be a balance

we would punish read only users if we would allow every mod only with Member title but thats not the case, even without account you can download our mods as a guest.

again what we are doing is to try to balance and try to make as much people as possible happy.

and btw. registered users (above one year) had 12 month to write at least 10 posts, im talking about 10 posts thats would have been maybe 30 minutes of work, is it to much asked? even if you cant write a good english its was not impossible.

There should be atleast some contribution. Just a few posts, helping others or just sharing your views.

Any forum likes active members and not read only. This forum has a very healthy group of like minded people, whose first intention is to run a good forum, which is brimmimg with activity. They are not here to earn by bannercash. That is just to recover the costs of running this forum, which they are paying from own pockets. They dont want members, who dont contribute, who suddenly wake up from sleep and start asking their rights

Nope, I do not agree here, too. SOme users do spam. But see the posts, especially in bittorrent section. You will find many users helping each other. That's the essence of this forum. That's why more and more are coming to this forum. Help is just a click away

WEll, all I can say is that it is good that you did read as I am sure that you got lots of healthy info to fill your appetite with.....nothing wrong with that.

There's noth'in wrong with reading as equally as there was nothing wrong with not posting.

I guess all I can suggest is that you post every-now-and-then...catch up with the latest gossip, and see what all the hulla-bulla is all about.

there's not much you can do now.
You've got a post count less than 10....oh, well...so what.
Your here aren't you??

Look.
Getting the newest mods isn't the biggest and most important thing in the world, you know.

there's far more important things, I am sure, in your life atm, then wanting to get all the newest, slickest mods, this side of the galaxy.

I apologize.
I don't mean to come of on the wrong side of the road with you.
I'll ask that you pardon my bluntness on the issue.

It's just the way I see things, atm.

Look....

One of the senior staff made the decision that everybody who has post counts less than 10 was gonna get demoted to be a grunt.

and that's just the way it is.

post some things here.
Be part of this nice place more often.
I am sure that you found that out yourself here, when you were reading the latest gossip of who's who and who's leech'in who, where.

Post some things.
That's all.

Make yourself known to others.

Classyboy was made a 'member' in a very short time b/c of his quality contribution. That's all.

With other's it may take longer. It all depends. There is no timeline for 'member' status. NOthing like that exist. It's the staff that make these decisions. It's based on a number of different things...factors if you will.

There are no set guidelines for this 'membership' status thing.

And so, being a 'member' (if that is what's important to you and I gather that it is) can happen to you as well.

Look. You already are a member here...did you forget??

YOu may not have 'member' status, but you already are a member here....just a lower-ranking member, that's all.

Look...if your desperate to get all the dirties, slickest, most greasy mods this side of the galaxy, make some posts that you feel, would contribute in what-ever way.

I"m sorry, that's about all that I can say.

I hope things turn out positively for you. :)

Cant' we go over there and ask him to sign up here with his username 'seba14'??

Firstly, we'd know its finally him here, and no-one would have to uncover rocks to find him.

Secondly, and most importantly, we could finally tell him that the bacterial infection that his mother gave him while he was a baby is actually a Staph infection.

Maybe we could convince him to gaurd the mods here while eating sandwiches with worms??

Hello,

I'm no exactly new here. This is the second time I subscribe, as I lost interest because of the past restrictions.

I don't program mods. I wish I could. I forgot my C++ from college, working in other areas of IT.

I don't have a lot of time and most of the time I enjoy reading your posts and trying to learn some.

I can understand what you are writing. And I understand and can relate to your feelings about your excellent work being stolen. I had it happen to me a while back, when I used to code.

Honestly, all I can say that for me this board is very important because we have very few ISPs here. If I was to be exposed, by using an unsecure client, I could be forced to change to another ISP. I'm right now with the best one here (and is crap).

It also had an utilitarian importance: I used to be able to test-ride all cutting edge mods.

That, if taken away, leaves me with very little time and a very boring time in this board, as I am not a writer and my communication skills are not that good. This is the reason why I prefer to read.

Can you have a group of serialized mod files in cache so every time one is downloaded, the system updates a list with the member nick and the serial number?

I will like to thank you for allowing me here. For the opportunity to clarify my doubts about emule v0.49c SBI Leecher Mod v1.9. I did asked a lot, anon?

2/5 Visit the Board + 1 Post
3/5 Visit the Board + 2 Post
4/5 Visit the Board + 3 Post

99% of the forum does not speak English as default (mother lang) including me
So Welcome to our group (non english experts) !

Sometimes I use the dictionary add-on if I don't know something

i also do that,
and i search for harder english words to appear 'smart' :klatsch_3:

I have more respect and give credit to you guys who don't speak English as your mother tongue AND yet do try to text it here on the board.

the fact that English is only the second language that's allowed to be texted here on the forums is just one small aspect of the forum.

There's people here from just about every corner of the globe.

There's even a friendly Martian around here :D

Just like other forums on the internet, it's the community and the spirit of it that adds to the friendliness of this place.

Regardless of what language you speak and how good or bad your English is (since that's the tangential topic at this point), you'll make forum-friends here over time. Regardless of what your English language skill may be.

So stick around and let everyone know who you are. Over time, you'll make some fine forum-friends.

And as Spike Lee made known in 'Do the right thing',.......and that's the double truth, Ruth!!!

I'm glad that it takes awhile to "earn" membership here on this board as it has given me many lessons on patience and actually getting to know the people here. I've learned so much about P2P and still learning so much about the tools.

I'm glad that when I become a member, I'll be so much more knowledgeable than when I first started! It will surely be very helpful when it is my turn to help the newcomers on the board.

I just hope that no one overlooks me and my contributions. That's one of the things I will never know

<edit> I'm really glad that people on this board are so truly indeed friendly to each other and not being jerks to one another, especially the newcomers!

I think this new system is a step in the right direction. This caused me to register :-) Now I regret not registering one and half years ago when I first started creeping these boards, hehe. I've never had a need for modded clients though, RM has always treated me like a king. I just like to read about modding.

Glad to be here, thanks!

Just for the record, there are no specific amounts - making 200 posts and being a user for 1 month, for example, won't get you auto-promoted.

I think that a link of some sort ought to be made in which users could get all the required information.
In this way, all questions could to be answered straight forward regarding anything and everything they ever wanted to know about membership but were afraid to ask.

in the usercp it is possible to request to be upgraded to a full member

http://www.sb-innovation.de/profile.php?do=editusergroups

anyway it is overall useless to do a request with zero posts or without any contribution.

if someone is thinking to be worth to be upgraded give it a try and write there at least a decent reason.

When new system implants?????

i'm not quite sure what you mean. But if you're referring to anons post before yours, he meant that after installing the current system, everyone with 10 or more posts got promoted. (Hopefully I got it right.) So there won't be a new system.

But I don't see your problem... You're saying that you soon have no time for torrenting anymore because you have to study right? But I guess there will be a way nevertheless. I think, a lot of members here have a rough schedule too when it comes to studying/ working, but they still manage somehow to torrent. Even if you're moving into a college dorm, there's usually a way for that.

Even though you can't torrent for some time, won't mean that there's no chance in being promoted here. You can still be active and helpful in other sections of the board, where less bittorrent knowledge is needed.

there are 2 things that i dont like. first: whining about when you will be upgraded and second: after someone was upgraded usually he/she switch in read only modus and thinks that the member title will last forever.

we will check at the weekend all upgrade requests and dont request with zero posts :rolleyes2: else we will leave the request button not visible for a few month.

btw. writing questions isnt a contribution

I have a suggestion:

To be truthful and fair, post a text in the portal page and specially in the registration page (before the registration process) that more or less reads like:

Registration to this board does not grant you access to the latest mods. That requires member status and such status will be granted by the owner of the board and/or his close friends and collaborators using rules that you will not be granted the right to know before hand. This rules will be revised from time to time at the sole discretion of the owner of the board and/or his close friends and collaborators. These changes will not be disclosed either.

Nevertheless, at registration you will be granted the right to download the same mods that unregistered users can, plus an opportunity to share with other registered and member users and post in some sections of this board.

Oh cmon, where are you going that you won't have internet connection? You could access the internet via an internet cafe too, if you won't have internet right at your future location. There has to be one way at least...

I don't think that would be a good idea thebestofme13. I think that your freind could get his own account (SBI account??), yes??

If you find yourself becoming inactive, well then, thats what happens then.
No big deal.

If your friend indeed becomes more active then you, well that's good for him.

but again, he/she is better off getting his/her own account, IMO.

Now that you mentioned that you may not be active here ( depending on circumstances, ofc), well, at least we are now aware of that should you all of a sudden become active (i.e. your friend has your account now).

I read this and I thought about how I could contribute.

I saw that the Technology and Computer News forums were almost dead. So I thought it was a good idea to take time to share with my peers the computing news, reviews, guides and technical articles I read every day.

That way the board could be a one-stop computing knowledge source for those that visit and at the same time help my peers to stay informed.

Many of my peers liked this and thanked me for my effort. I thank you for this.

I posted until today, when I received a private message from Hitman telling me that he thinks that I was posting in these treads with the only purpose of increasing the total number of my posts.

I want to make clear that I never thought about number of posts because is my feeling that will never get to be member because when I don't like a situation I express my feelings in a direct and firm way.

This is because as a man that values responsible freedom of speech, I have learned that is better to defend your position than to have to say I'm sorry.

I could not explain this to Hitman in private because you cannot reply to moderators before you have 1000 posts. Hitman, accept my apologies. I always reply to private messages in private, but in this case there was no way to do it.

To all my peers: If you feel that my posts have been offensive to you, there were no intentions to do so. It will not happen again.

Best of luck

I think I sent that PM. And you can reply to Moderators even if you're not a Member.

It's great that you want to help us by posting the latest stuff, but yesterday you started around 10 threads in the Hardware section. As slikrapid once already told you, you may want to "filter" those so that only the interesting ones remain.

Tell me the old account's name. If it's still in the database, I'll ban your new one and unlock/reset the old one's password as necessary. If it's been deleted, then I can't get it back - follow the steps to get the Member title in your new one.
