Leno logs his last 'Tonight' | Philadelphia Inquirer | 05/31/2009 (http://www.philly.com/philly/news/local/20090531_Leno_logs_his_last__Tonight_.html)

Jay Leno said goodbye to The Tonight Show on Friday night in pedestrian fashion. (Jay Walking, indeed.) Perhaps that was fitting for the most workmanlike host ever to sit behind the desk at this TV institution.

It seemed like just another day at the office for the 59-year-old comic, who ended his 17-year tenure with a pro forma performance, lacking in pizzazz and retrospection.

Johnny Carson was the host previously from 1962–1992.

ahh, yes. That's right. I remember now.
He had the show going for 30 years, too.

That was the show where the announcer always went:

....and heeeerreeee's Johnny!!

Wasn;'t that right??
