Well I bumped to add some info and ask some things.
The first freeleech snatch is scrapped.
On the front page they have a list of freeleech for christmas.
They have freeleech once a week in the form of Movie of the Week. And the last four MotW are always freeleech.
But one question, did something happen to tc? It's at about 12000 users atm =/ Some massive pruning must have happened or something...
And I havnt tried anything there yet, as my tc account is linked to my waffles and what.cd account.
Edit: Oh and I almost missed this but: On the bottom of the latest article, apparently if you are from What.CD you can get free invites. But tc invites arent hard to come by.

Teh Fanatic - Must have been a member for 4 weeks, uploaded 50 GB, 1 torrent and maintain a ratio of 1.05. The promotion is automatic when these conditions are met. Note that you will be automatically demoted from this status if your ratio drops below 0.95 at any time.

PTPC offers them as well, although you must upload 80GB and one torrent to be Power User there. I don't know what TC's requirements are (found some info, but it's very old, from back when they were TBdev-based).

it's 50gb and one torrent on tehconnection. I had access to ptp and they had pretty much the same invite forum as what.cd and if tehconnection is anywhere close ill be glad when im there.

well right now id like to get back to ptp and what.cd (w/o the interview) but in general no i would like to just get onto better trackers (generally for movies) than what i currently have access to. x264, hd-bits.ro, hdbits.org im looking for good movie trackers in general
HDBits definitely isn't offered on PTPC's PU forums, but I thnk x264 was.
in a recent news post it seems like TehC is wanting new members. They are encouraging people to start threads at other trackers to invite people and are even offering to give out a ton of invites to people who do so.
4) Uploading always helps, as does inviting new (good) users. Consider (with staff permission) starting an invite thread on other trackers you're on that don't have a TC thread. If you want to start a thread, ask us, and we'll give you a bunch of invites to bring in new users.

you can find, among the rest: STB, BitHQ, What.CD, BTN, fux0r, STC, ExtremeBits (those are unlimited)
more are suggested but they aren't unlimited and depend on the user inviting.

Do you mean there are invites to those trackers on TC's PU forums, or that they also have unlimited threads?
I'm at a loss because I know TL and SCC, for example, don't offer invites for special classes, and dreamer would have mentioned TL, RevTT, SCC, etc. if they were available via TC.

In the past we had a partnership with What.cd, invites to each site being offered by the other. That line is still intact, and now we offer another line: BTN!
BTN is a ratio-free TV tracker running on a well customized Gazelle base. Lots of good content, good pretimes and good speeds, this tracker is the up and coming rookie to keep your eye on.

Since the very beginning, we have strived to be the best archival site that we can be. We've noticed that very few torrents truly stay archived for very long - certainly there are few torrents over 2 years old. So, in the interest of reaching this goal and maintaining archival status, we're going to be experimenting with a few new features that collectively create what we're calling our seeder surge. We're planning on leaving these running indefinitely, perhaps with some minor tweaks, but no major changes. ❥ All torrents with less than 5 seeds are freeleech until they reach 5 seeds. This includes new uploads (read: all new uploads are freeleech henceforth). Once a torrent has 5 seeds, the freeleech will be deactivated, so don't count on your full snatch being free, a 5th seeder could hop on before you're done! Torrents who drop seeds below 5 will have their freeleech reactivated until their seedership resumes. Hitting and running on freeleech torrents will be dealt with swiftly and severely.
❥ We will be rolling out updates in the coming days to make it easier for you guys to find torrents that need seeding but for now you can start your hunt here: torrents.php?page=92&order_by=s6&order_way=ASC
❥ The peerlist is now back for all users so all can see if a 5th seeder is about to complete and end the freeleech. The lists are cached for 15 minutes (this will NOT be changing), so don't gamble too heavily!
❥ In addition there will be no more autolocking of dead threads in the forums which will make the invites forum (teh fanatic and above) much easier to deal with. This is not an endorsement for thread necromancy and repeated, unjustified attempts will result in a permanent loss in forum privileges.

I'm afraid not, these news surprised me as they're invite-only and hadn't opened in years.
This is the second time they open registrations. They were open for a few hours last month. They said they wanted to reach 25k users by the end of 2017.
It's been exactly 1 month since our last site announce pertaining to the Future of TehConnection and we are proud to announce we are now on route to developing, securing and maintaining what is soon to be the greatest private movie tracker that has ever graced the internet.

Seems like teh is taking the cabal approach. They are finally cooperating more with other trackers, forums have been cleaned, people have been recruited. Took em some time to realize they could become one of the best trackers in the hood, even challenge the almighty ptp.
BTN recruitment and the announcement of invites being purged seems like a decoy to enlist more users and push it more.They still have a long way to go though and i still think on of the ways to manage that is if they updates the interface/stylesheets.
Good tracker nevertheless and for the time being good easy access.

100 days
It's been 100 days or so since we made our The Future of TehConnection.eu Announcement and though it might not seem like it, we've made some major progress and we're not done yet!
Over the past 100 days we have:
- Integrated our new Ocelot Tracker
- Built Justine Bot which serves users and staff in IRC
- Fully functional Mail Server giving us a 98.4% delivery rate
- TehIMG.eu for hosting images/screenshots/etc.
- Invested in our infrastructure and security

It will increase activity, torrent retention and speed, we are already up 40,000+ peers since the beginning of the year.

Due to a court order granted to the Attorney General of Quebec with the assistance of the Special Enforcement Unit, TehConnection's servers were seized, fortunately - we run a mirror server for the front-end which allowed us to back-up data offshore from the actual server before deleting all traces of TC.
This happened less than 30 days after the Systems Administrator of TC was threatened by a member of staff at a prominent private movie tracker. Take your guesses.
At this time we are re-evaluating our efforts to determine what sort of set-up is necessary to prevent this from happening again as well as negotiating with hosting firms in Russia and Hong Kong to determine if they will be able to provide us with the hardware, network and support we require at a manageable cost.

Eventually we all fall to that ''trap''. Even i did with teh and tb of data, since they didnt have active HnR system, so it all came pretty handy for immediate use.

On behalf of the senior staff of TehConnection, I wish to advise the news that noone has been wanting to hear: TehConnection is no longer. As there has been no communication with the senior admin, we do not know who is currently running the main server or what exactly is happening. We can only assume that forces are at play to which we know nothing about.
We wish to thank the community for their help and support through all these years. There were many happy times for us all, both as users, and as staff. We have seen many great accomplishments in our time, and we have watched many of our community as they grew, not just on TC but elsewhere. It has been a real pleasure helping, and serving you.

Teh had eventually around 14-15k members. Half of them must have already been on ptp, maybe more.
The rest will just be divided on general trackers, hdtorrents and ahd. And just selected few will make it on ptp.

I was thinking PTP may become a bit easier to join for a while, to allow for TC refugees (I hate that term, but I'll use it for the sake of practicality and understanding). It seems unlikely though, they're already happy the way they are.
If a successor tracker is to appear, now is the time.
Yeah, like making public announcements to the size of the entire PTP ( in contrast to netflix, amazon etc) is gonna help at all.
Its just recruitment for the most elite users. One could call it pretty much closed again, but even now new people manage to get recruited. Is it worth the time/effort investment though? I would def say yes, but opinions vary.
As for teh, even if a new tracker is created, its pretty much pointless now. Teh was for many years into the game and still didnt manage to get even half the number of torrents ptp had. The only somewhat logical action would be for ptp to raise the limit to at least 40k. Or keep 35k as soft limit and let new users be able to join via these hard recruitments indefinitely..

Update 1
Former senior staff members of TehConnection can confirm that they are looking to build a replacement for TehConnection. We know there is still a lot of interest out there, we can also confirm we have an old copy of the database. There are no promises that this will eventuate into a new tracker site, but we have the means and development to make it happen. Our plan is to not be a gazelle clone so the site is being written from scratch. We do need some extra help to make this happen. One of these being that we are looking for a UX designer(s) with an artistic eye. If you can assist us, we would be keen to hear from you. If we are successful, we do have a tentative go-live date in mind. However, we will update on this at a later date. Thank you

Just to clarify some points made in original post:
we aren't writing everything from scratch; we are building on a years-long effort that was already underway to rewrite TC, and that project uses existing production-ready frameworks. We're aiming to launch a minimum viable product (MVP) for beta testing by Christmas, and we welcome security audits from those gracious enough to volunteer their time.
to date, we have still been unable to contact the sysadmin of the original TC. We are saddened by what has happened but cannot confirm who has posted the BTC address that most of you have seen. We do acknowledge that there were security issues with the original TC, and this is something which we are taking seriously and changing process to ensure this does not happen again. We will not be asking for any donations until we can deliver a functioning site.
we are asking for help, but only from designers. We have enough devs to get things wired together, and while we are willing to launch the site with a bootstrap theme or some other shitty-looking alternative, we would much rather have it looking good from day one. Those who have pm-ed already
we are not planning to use most of the content in the database we do have, including torrent files. Essentially we will be starting over, but using the db to validate TC refugees.

TehConnection has been Reborn!
I came to the decision to relaunch TehConnection myself due to the sad fact that the original site disappeared without trace several months ago. I am a firm believer in the here and the now and I don't believe in waiting for something that very well may never happen no matter how good their intentions are. So with that mindset I set about exploring the idea of relaunching TehConnection myself. As you can see we're not using Gazelle and instead are using UNIT3D a new, fresh and up to date script based off the lovely Laravel Framework. I do realize that some people may prefer the old look and Gazelle. However, I seriously did consider going with Gazelle but decided against it once I saw how wonderful this codebase is out of the box. It is my belief it will serve us very well, and it is my hope that you will all join me in rebuilding the movies library that the old site once had. Bear in mind that UNIT3D is still pretty new and a stable build should be released by end of April named UNIT3D 2.0 LTS (Stable)
You are all advised to report bugs if/when you find them.

Agreed, but to be fair at this stage you can upload files from other sites without needing to cheat atm.
Oh they also give a generous 49GB buffer too.
So, it's basically joining this quasi-authorized new tracker, or waiting for an official comeback which has been promised for a while now. Except those choices aren't mutually exclusive, so you can join the new place while you wait for the old one :smilie4:

Yep. Exactly what you said. The tracker does look like one of the best in terms of the interface. Much like what TL are going to do in V5.

They still looking for devs to help with the progress. They have database snapshot from march 2017, so anybody who has been registered by then will be able to join. They will have recruitment like old TEH had.
To be more specific, we are looking front-end developers to help us gain some ground quickly.
The design work is done and we have a good team finishing up the APIs (but could always use help there if you are interested.)

Yes these two will be different. The ex-tehconnection staff are working on a site but the name will be different (JCT). I read that old users will be able to use their accounts (those who registered before 2017 march). tehconnection.me is run by another guy. For me it doesn't matter. The more the better.

Let's wait and see what they intend to offer. I'm really looking for something like the original TEH or PTP, to reach those rare or old movies that are hard to find (legitimately or not)
